Jeffrey Dean Morgan Discusses Bigfoot Hoax on Jay Leno

The wooden strap-ons used to hoax Bigfoot tracks
"There might be a Bigfoot in our backyard." --Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is an American actor best known to television and movie audiences as Denny Duquette in the 2005 medical drama Grey's Anatomy, patriarch John Winchester on Supernatural, and as The Comedian in the 2009 superhero film Watchmen.

On the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jefferey Dean Morgan describes his wife as a believer in all things fringe including Bigfoot.

When asked by Jay Leno if his wife had seen a Bigfoot, Mr.Morgan describes his year-long hoax. In his words a "practical joke" on his wife. In the process he has probably tainted any credibility to sightings in the town of Rhinebeck, NY. Shame on you Jefferey Dean Morgan.

  1. Thank you. I am a skeptic, or rather the skeptic with our local group, The Bigfoot Club. The group is very serious, we do things with the help and advice of scientists and biologists and the best we can. We want the truth, skeptics and believers in the group. People have joked with me "You should dangle a bigfoot doll in front of one of the trail cameras!" then I could "prove" to the group bigfoot isn't real. Huh? No, only by being respectful can we work together. We even have DNA collection rules. Being taken seriously is hard, people should know Bigfoot groups aren't just made up of "nutty gullible people" http://yankeeskeptic.com/2013/05/13/bigfoot-dna-collection-proceedures/

  3. Shame on him? Come on, this is how bigfoot works, This is how bigfoot has actually survived all along. Bigfoot is a folk myth perpetrated by people just like this guy. If you honestly get hoaxers to stop hoaxing, bigfoot sightings will also stop. It's all one and the same. It's all fun and games to spoof people on this or that, or the other thing, but when it comes to people spoofing as bigfoot, all of a sudden it's a vile, shameful, psychopathic crime that should be punished. Get real. Bigfoot is like the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and all manner of magical, mysterious characters that we all make up and maintain to fool and entertain ourselves. Bigfoot is not real, and never has been. There is zero true evidence to support it. And yes, there are enough people making fake feet to leave all those prints which are considered the best and only evidence.

    1. Anon, Thanks for making such a clear argument. Obviously I'm a little more hopeful than you regarding Bigfoot, but I appreciate your comment.

I agree, the evidence is not as strong as I would like it--I think many bigfooters would like stronger evidence.

However I do disagree with your comparison of the Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, and the Easter Bunny. The aforementioned beings all have magical origins and require magic to exist. Bigfoot, as a relict hominoid, does not require magic to be plausible.

      Thanks again for the comment.

    2. Anon... there is one small problem with that theory... Lets say all hoaxers stop for a year There will STILL BE SIGHTINGS. These creatures have been around long before we white men came here. this wasn't invented in 1950 they are know to native Americans for over 6,000 years. Shocking as it may seem we DO know what a fake wooden footprint & a REAL footprint looks like.

Guy I for one would LOVE to talk the big guy into coming out of the woods. If any of the stories are true they will replace the chimpanzee as our closest relative. why? they MAY have their own language. they MAY be able to learn & understand English as in being able to sit down & type a reply. No other primate builds a shelter to live in No other primate uses trail markers. No North American Animal will open a backpack feel under clothes to see if there is food, take he food then close the pack. That IF true makes them equal in intelligence t us. IF they are that smart then they know how to evade us

  4. I think once people see the truth its going to stun everyonea sceptic or a true believer.what do you think about the survivor man's stories what would make him tell a b s story. I just wish once again someone would catch it on camera.I don't think bear would just put himself out there like that on tv or youtube for the whole world to hear kf he was lieing.and for people who would actually go all over the place making fake tracks they need to get a life who really has time for that. I know I don't and I sure wouldn't waste my time doing that.

  6. Anyone who thinks that Bigfoot is just a myth,well...to each his own. I KNOW these creatures exist, they are not paranormal but flesh and blood beings that have honed skills that we lazy humans have long forgotten. Anyone who takes the time to research this subject, not just reading a few blogs but an in depth study, will find that there is much more to this than just some idiot making wooden feet. Some tracks show flexible toes, dermal ridges and various other features that is almost impossible to fake. Well,I know they are real as I had a sighting about 24 years ago and it confirmed what I had always believed.

  7. Let's revisit this argument when a bigfoot is brought to the table, or at least some piece of one. To date there has been no legitimate biological evidence presented and confirmed. ALL hair, droppings, DNA and so forth have proven to be anything but bigfoot in origin. Flesh supposedly taken form an actual bigfoot turns out to be bear? Hair left by bigfoot turns out to be raccoon? Come on, this is the stuff of pranksters or people that are seriously mistaken, and that's how it's always been. So until someone presents something honestly tangible as evidence, people really ought to frame their opinions as hopeful belief, rather than "knowing" they actually exist.

    1. How many serial killers are still wanted who we know exist & never been caught. So according to you because they have never been caught they don't & can't exist. Now Would you consider a face to face encounter with one as proof? Before answering think about it for a minute. Your hiking in the woods as you turn a corner you find yourself face to face with an 8-10' tall bodybuilder who can lift over 700lbs weighs almost a ton of muscle & can rip you apart without even trying. Some like yourself have had such an encounter & the reality so shook their reality they never go into the woods again. These ARE Omnivores & have a slight reputation among Native Americans as man eaters.

  8. This past winter, while hunting, I shot and killed 3 Big foots out of a family group of at least 60 of them, but upon reporting it, the Fish and Game officers took them from me, threathening me with arrest. My name is Rick Dyer, and Tom Biscardi, Matt Moneymaker, Todd Standing and Tim faisio was with me!
