Memorial Day Bigfoot

First, everybody at Bigfoot Lunch Club would like to acknowledge those who have bravely made the greatest sacrifice for our country. Thank you and your service will never be forgotten.

14 years ago on Memorial day, the Bigfoot community had a new video to reflect upon and perhaps scrutinize. It is known as--wait for it--The Memorial day Bigfoot video.

Wikipedia has a brief description of it:
The Memorial Day video is a Hi-8mm video that is purported to show a Bigfoot. It was videotaped on May 26, 1996, by Lori Pate while they were on a fishing trip with family and friends at Chopaka Lake, in Okanogan County, Washington. It was preceded by two sightings of an ape-like, hair covered figure at lesser distances by others on the trip.

It shows a figure, matching the description of Bigfoot, running across a hill. It disappears behind a less inclined sloped area, then reappears briefly, walking this time, before going into the trees on the right side of the frame.

In Exhibit 8 of the documentary Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, the location where the film was taken is used to make forensic measurements to determine the film subject's height, path, speed, and stride by measuring the subject against fixed objects in the background. Derek Prior, a three-time All-American sprinter from the University of Washington, runs the same route as the figure to determine if the alleged Bigfoot's running speed was too fast for a human to duplicate, to compare his speed and stride to the subject's, and to give a visual comparison to the figure in the footage.

In the conclusions section of Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science, the results of the forensic measurements are revealed. The film subject has the following:

A height of 5.3 ft (1.61 m)
A leg length of 2½ ft (0.76 m)
A running speed of 8.56 mph (13.77 km/h)
A stride of 4.25 ft (1.29 m)
Derek Prior, on the other hand, was able to run the same path at 17.1 mph (27.51 km/h) and had a stride of 6.8 ft (2.07 m).

However, one aspect of the film remained a mystery. At the end, before the subject goes into the trees, it appears to grow taller by 8 inches (20.32 cm). One possible explanation is that if it was indeed a real animal, it could be carrying a younger animal that had climbed higher on its back.

Cliff Barackman's Database of Bigfoot Casts

Cliff Barackman (pronounce bare-eck-men) has been doing Sasquatch field research for more than 15 years. Like Bruce Wayne with his utility belt, Cliff has multiple technologies and methods at his disposal. In order to gather evidence, he leverages the use of gadgets capable of night vision, thermal imaging, remote control and digital sound recording.

No stranger to media, Cliff has appeared on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, the History Channel's Monsterquest, numerous podcast radio shows, and as a guest bigfoot “expert” on several local news channels from the Portland, OR and Seattle, WA. Recently Cliff took Bob Saget Saquatchin' in Washington. We covered it here.

Additionally, he has managed to gather one of the largest collections of footprint casts on the west coast and he has showcased the best ones on his website.

The beauty of Cliff's cast/print database is the detail. Every cast is against an inch grid background, each picture can be zoomed with incredible definition.

By clicking on each cast, all the major data points are listed; Year, Month, Date, State, County, Location, Discoverer, Caster, Length, Ball Width, Heel Width, Stride, and Depth. Like a Ginsu Knife Commercial--There's More! All these details are paired with must-read narrative. Each cast has a story and Cliff tells it with rich fascination.

There's nothing like this on the web, not with the same care and presentation. Go check it out.

Ucu Added to "AKA Bigfoot World Map"

According to cryptozoo-oscity.blogspot.com:

The Ucu, also known as Ucumar or Ukumar-zupai, is Bigfoot type creature reported as being seen in the Andes range of mountains in South America particularly in Chile and Argentina. The Ucu is said to be the size of a large dog and walks erect. Unlike the Yeti it prefers the more tropical regions of the Andes mountain range, rather than snow covered peaks. The locals say the Ucu likes to eat payo, a plant similar to cabbage, and emits a sound like uhu, uhu. It is not just locals who have reported hearing or seeing the creatures.

For three consecutive years starting in 1957 there were several documented cases describing a mysterious creature described with features and behaviors all too familiar to us Bigfooters.

Town distances itself from $1M Bigfoot hunt

In December of 2009 we had heard chatter that Rick Lewis might not be legit. Lewis owns Bigfoot Central, a Bigfoot themed gift shop, and museum. He also claimed he was conducting a genuine contest which consisted of a $250 entry fee and a chance to win 1 Million Dollars for photographic proof of Bigfoot. The contest was advertised at hunt4bigfoot.com (if you go to the site, all of the sudden "online registration is now closed".)

There are several signs that point to the illegitimacy of the event. For one, the host resort has never heard of the event and two, News 9 is reporting several cease-and-desist letters from companies and government organizations that were implied to be sponsors of his event

News 9 of Colorado is skeptical:
SILVERTON - For $250, photographers can enter to win $1 million for snapping a photo of Bigfoot in the mountains of southwest Colorado. The problem is the event's supposed sponsors and host resort have never heard of such a thing.
The hunt, advertised through the website www.hunt4bigfoot.com, is the brainchild of Silverton-businessman Rick Lewis. He owns Bigfoot Central, a gift shop and "museum."

Lewis is also the recent target of several cease-and-desist letters from companies and government organizations that he implied were sponsors of his event.

The $1,000,000 Hunt For Bigfoot offered a chance for 400 participants, for $250 apiece, to win the bounty for catching Bigfoot in a photograph during a July 10-14 event at Kendall Mountain Resort in Silverton.

However, the event appears to be about as real as the mythical hairy forest-dweller itself.

Silverton town administrator Jason Wells says the Kendall Mountain Resort, which is owned by the town, has never been scheduled to host the $1,000,000 Hunt For Bigfoot. Wells says the resort is booked with a different event that weekend.

"I just want to make sure that we're not somehow tied into this whole affair," Wells said. "I don't want a bunch of people showing up here who have paid $250 for there to be a lack of an event that's got the town's name in any way attached to it."

In a statement, dated 12/27/09, to Whalesinspace.com Rick Lewis released this statement.
The primary purpose of our Hunt for Bigfoot event is simply to gather together four hundred or more other Bigfoot enthusiasts, for a few days to enjoy the Great Outdoors of the San Juan region of Colorado, promote our business-Bigfoot Central and Legend of Bigfoot Museum, show off the town of Silverton in which we are located, and let everyone enjoy an evening together, Bigfoot'n at our planned $1,000,000.00 Hunt for Bigfoot closing party.

Over 17,000 people visited our Legend of Bigfoot Museum this past season and we have had many a request for such an event. With (7) recorded sightings nearby this year and a long history of encounters in this region, Bigfoot excitement is in the air and the response to our planned event has been very good. For those one or two skeptics-and there always seem to be some in a crowd-we encourage them to stay home. The $1,000,000.00 Hunt for Bigfoot event is for imaginative and fun enjoying people only.

Bigfoot Communicating by Stick-art in Minnesota?

Minnesota ABC Affiliate KSAX-TV files this report of a Minnesota Bigfoot.

It has some of the same things we have come to expect from a news article about Bigfoot. It starts from the perspective of a "skeptic", the "no bear skeleton ever found" defense, and a couple of "true believer" anecdotes.

Sorry to sound so unenthusiastic, but these articles are getting formulaic.

There was a single diamond in the rough:
Other signs Bigfoot exists include branches plucked straight out of trees, strange looking shelters, and stick men to warn other Bigfoot of humans in the area.

We have not heard of the bigfoot using stick-men to warn other Bigfoot about the presence of humans. We looked in our library and found bigfoot described as a stickman by Native Americans and we have even heard of odd stick formations, but nothing as specific as this news article.

Feel free to enlighten us, fans, we would love to hear more about any other stick-man stories.

Its Official Mating Season Begins for FL Bigfoot

Its the first week of May, and like clock-work we always get an updated report from Wireless Flash News Inc that it is mating season for the Florida Skunk-ape, Bigfoot's “smaller, smellier cousin.”

We did not repost the entire newsflash as we don't think its completely appropriate or in good taste. Eh Eh! Before you get the censorship police, we have provided a link to the whole article and you can wince at your own risk.

Thursday, May 13, 2010 17:10 GMT

OCHOPEE, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dave Shealy, an RV park owner in Ochopee, Florida, is the leading researcher of the Skunk Ape, Bigfoot’s “smaller, smellier cousin.”

He says there are seven to nine Skunk Apes currently living in the Everglades and right now is the best time to spot one because it’s their mating season.

Lately, he’s heard lots of campers report strange sounds coming from the swamps. He figures it’s the Skunk Ape’s mating call, which sounds like a low-pitched dove cooing...

BREAKING NEWS: Russians Rescue Bigfoot

This is an interesting story from a Pakistani website (www.anewshome.com) citing a Moskow Website (RT.com). A Russian hunter claims he has saved something that can only be described as Bigfoot from a frozen river in central Siberia.

Russian news agency Itar-Tass quoted a source in the administration of the Tashtagol district of the Perm Region as saying that the incident took place in April this year near the village of Senzaskiye Kichi. The village is located 140 kilometers away from the nearest human settlement and the only connection with its residents is by helicopter. The latest flight to the village brought back a written report about the encounter with the so-called Bigfoot.

The letter read that professional hunter Afanasiy Kiskorov together with several other hunters was fishing when they heard a loud cracking of ice and a howl. When they approached the source of the noise, the hunters saw an unusual creature described as “like a huge man covered in dark brown fur.” The creature was in the river, about 10 meters from the bank and it unsuccessfully tried to get out of the water and stand upright.

Kiskorov rushed to the rescue and reached out for the drowning creature with a dry tree branch. “Bigfoot” then grabbed the branch, got onto shore, and walked away.

Authorities in the Kemerovo Region have repeatedly released stories of Bigfoot sightings over the past few years. According to them, those interested in cryptozoology could help to develop the Siberian tourism industry.

Below is a map of the region the bigfoot was reportedly rescued.

Moehau Added to "AKA Bigfoot World Map"

We finally stumbled upon another Bigfoot variant. We know, some people like to call them species but semantically this is not correct. In order to classify these variants as different Bigfoot "species" we would need to have substantial biological information to classify with any kind of taxonomy. So we like to use the word Variant until we have a base model(captured Bigfoot) to reference.

Today we are have added the Moehau to the ever expanding Bigfoot Lunch Club AKA Bigfoot World Map.

Moehau are depicted as being as tall as a man, completely hair covered, with marginally ape-like facial features. The primary difference from human appearance being the extremely long fingers, tipped with sharp talons, capable of tearing apart the toughest prey.

The talons seem at odds with most descriptions of Bigfoot, but it is not the first time a variant has been described with talons.

Many areas of New Zealand are named for these great hairy man beasts, Moehau Mountain, where they are believed to reside and people are cautioned against going up there is one such place.

The Moehau are thought to populate both Mount Tongariro and Ruapehu, the Karangahake Gorge, Coromandel Ranges, Martha Mine Region, Waikaremoana – in the Urewera Ranges, The Heaphy River of the Northwest Nelson State Forest Park, Kaikoura Mountains, Fiordland National Park and are believed to be very common in the Haasts Pass area particularly around the Haast River.

Different Species, Identical DNA

In two previous posts we introduced the speculation that Modern Humans may have interbred with Neanderthals. these articles are based on Svante Pääbo's quest to sequence the Neanderthal DNA.

Read Love or War with Cavemen and Doin' IT with Neanderthals

In our our third installment we have some interesting revelations surfacing as the Neanderthal DNA sequencing continues.

The first revelation is both DNA's, Neanderthals and Modern Humans, are nearly identical.

Wired Magazine explains further:

"After years of anticipation, the Neanderthal genome has been sequenced. It’s not quite complete, but there’s enough for scientists to start comparing it with our own.

According to these first comparisons, humans and Neanderthals are practically identical at the protein level. Whatever our differences, they’re not in the composition of our building blocks.

However, even if the Neanderthal genome won’t show scientists what makes humans so special, there’s a consolation prize for the rest of us. Most people can likely trace some of their DNA to Neanderthals..."

For Bigfooters this is amazing, because we know Neanderthals and Modern humans were both very physically different, but according to the DNA evidence we would never know to what degree without fossil evidence.

Its a two-edge sword for Bigfoot DNA evidence. If DNA can be so similar, nearly identical, between two species, it may be hard to distinguish Bigfoot DNA.

On the other hand, we may already have Bigfoot DNA and dismissed it because it was so similar to another known species.

The second revelation is, according to studies, not all modern humans contain the same amount of Neanderthal DNA. Modern humans with African descent actually have less traceable Neanderthal DNA.

Such studies will occupy scientists for years to come. In the meantime, the researchers produced a more immediately stirring result. They compared the Neanderthal genome to genomes of five people from China, France, Papua New Guinea, southern Africa and western Africa. Among non-Africans, between one and four percent of all DNA came from Neanderthals...

...For people of African descent disappointed that they lack Neanderthal ancestry, Pääbo gave solace.

“It’s totally possible that inside Africa, there was a contribution from other archaic humans that we don’t know about,” he said. “We shouldn’t take these results as saying that only people outside Africa have caveman biology.”

Bigfoot is an Alien Chimera Grizzly/Human Hybrid

Wish we had more behind this theory, but this is the subject being discussed at www.alienhub.com. Apparently someone who goes by the moniker "VOYAGER" has expressed his support for "bigfoot is real" camp, and then expands his own theories...

The Native Indians can't be wrong about a Giant hairy Man living in the Mountains of Washington, BC and the Pacific North West.
The Native Indians call him the Boss of the Mountains and pay him great respect for Sasquatch has titanic strength and has been known to devour Humans.
My take on Bigfoot is that the Big Hairy Man Beast is real, Bigfoot though is not a Primate like what many people believe it is. Sasquatch is a Chimera a Hybred, a cross between Grizzly Bear and Human so you can imagine the size of it and the Strength of it. It was designed by the Atlantians 800 000 years ago. The Atlantians weren't very nice people and during their Past Glory they Hybredized many animals with humans and Sasquatch was one of those creatures and to this day these Creatures are out there hunting and gathering but they are extremely intelligent they know that man is the danger and they stay away from populated areas and hunt at night for protection.

They are incredible strong and they can tear a man apart like a French Cruller Donut in no time and eat him just as fast. These creatures are extremely nasty tempered and extremely fast, they can run like an Olympian Athlete and just as fast if not even faster and make there 900 Pound frame look like it's effortless.

Behold the Mighty Sasquatch coming to neighboorhood near you!.

Oddly enough, while looking for more man/bear chimera information, as our team found a genomics site, thinkgene.com, that claims we don't need no stinkin' alien technology to create man-bear-pig chimeras (see photo above).

Is this Chimera theory going to gain momentum? Fans, you know how we feel, we think Bigfoot is simply an undiscovered primate, but we love any Bigfoot theories, ANY Bigfoot theory. And this is one of the more interesting ones.

Sasquatch Tops List as "Best Food Ever"

Last night, May 4th, TLC debuted their six-episode series "Best Food Ever," and kick started things with their ode to Sensational Sandwiches, counting down what they promised are the top 10 sandwiches across the United States. Let's be clear here: by sensational, they don't mean that your taste buds are going to jump right off your tongue. They're invoking the blockbuster movie use of the word -- extreme, massive and potentially heart-threatening. They did highlight a few that were known for their tastiness (and not their quantities of meat), but for the most part, "Best Food Ever"' was more about "Biggest Food Ever."

On the top of the list was a sandwich from a place in Arizona called the Lodge.

1. The Sasquatch at Scottsdale, Arizona's The Lodge. For those who are into clogging things such as arteries and airways, the Sasquatch takes two grilled cheese sandwiches and makes another sandwich out of that, putting a half pound burger, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and onion strings in the middle of the two ends. One hundred and fifty-five grams of fat later, you're surely feeling sensational of some sorts.
