Humans shoot and kill Bigfoot on average of once every four years

** UPDATE:  On July 11, 2013 Finding Bigfoot's Cliff Barackman referenced this post on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory. You can listen to the entire interview at the bottom of the post.

Some feel the only way (or at least the best way) to prove Bigfoot is real, is a dead body. Many skeptics think so too, which leads to the often asked question, "Why hasn't anybody killed or shot Bigfoot?!"

Lo and behold, Robert Lindsay with his same-named blog answers that very question. His finding? There have been at least 30 incidents totaling up top 32 shootings/killings in the last 125 years.

For you long-time fans, you know we don't condone the shooting or killing of Bigfoot. We have covered those that claim they have proof of Bigfoot shootings. We have calso overed interviews of those that would kill Bigfoot. As for us? Although unlikely, we would prefer Bigfoot to let us swab his inner cheek with a Q-Tip and pluck a few rooted hairs--oh and a video would be nice.

Below we have the condensed list of all 30 incidents followed by Robert's conclusion. The list will give you a taste of what Robert has in store, as he has extended versions of all 30 incidents at his blog.

1. Unknown date: Klakas Inlet, Southern Alaska. In far southern Alaska on Prince of Wales Island, a Bigfoot was reportedly shot and buried at the mouth of a stream

2. Date unknown, modern era: Location unknown. A wealthy hunter reportedly shot and killed a Bigfoot, then paid a taxidermist to stuff it

3. Unknown date, modern era: Yankton, Oregon. Near the Colombia River north of Portland, a hunter shot a Bigfoot four times between the eyes and killed it.

4. Unknown date, modern era, Amboy, Washington. Near Mt. St. Helens, a hunter reported that he shot and killed a male Bigfoot on an old logging road.

5. Unknown date: Sonora, Mexico. Rich Grumley reportedthat a hunter shot and killed a Bigfoot, then buried it.

20. December 1967: Teton National Forest near Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Two college students from Marshalltown, Iowa, Lyle Bingaman and Mike Burton, shot and killed a Bigfoot, thinking it was a bear.

21. 1968: North of Carson, Wyoming. Three men were hired by a rancher to kill a Bigfoot that was killing his cows and sheep by tearing off their legs.

22. After 1968: Alabama. The same man involved in the Carson, Wyoming case above shot another Bigfoot later on.

23. 1969: Whiteface Reservoir, Minnesota. A hunter shot and killed a Bigfoot, then put the body on ice and displayed it for awhile before replacing it with a plastic replica.

24. After 1969: Clark, Washington. Neat Mt. St. Helens, a manshot and killed a Bigfoot, then tried to sell it, but stopped when he thought it might have been illegal to kill the Bigfoot.

25. 1970: Spokane, Washington. Grover Krantz reported that a hunter shot and killed a Bigfoot.

26. June 1976: Baltimore, Maryland. As unlikely as it sounds, a Bigfoot was reported here in May 1976. Police were called, and K-9′s initially refused to track it.

27. January 1976: Elm Creek, Texas Panhandle. Three menshot and killed two Bigfoots.

28. January 2000: Honobia, Oklahoma. The Siege of Honobia. Bigfoot apparently shot and killed as part of a group that was raiding and harassing a rural residence.

29. November 12, 2003: Lafollette, Tennessee. A creature had been killing peoples’ animals. A goat and cat at the very least had been killed. Local sherrif and deputies tracked Bigfoot and shot it dead.

30. August 2006: Slim Buttes, Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota. A Bigfoot that had been named Chiye-tanka was shot and killed on the reservation.

CONCLUSION
"From 1884-present, a 125 year period, 32 Bigfoots have been shot dead by humans, hunters or otherwise. Humans kill or take into custody Bigfoots or their bodies once every 3.9 years or about once every 4 years. In most cases, after the Bigfoot was shot it was simply left in the woods where it fell. In some cases, it was buried. In the modern era, people who shot Bigfoots were often afraid to talk about it for fear of being prosecuted. They often thought that they had killed some sort of a human being and would be prosecuted for manslaughter or homicide.

In recent years, government officials seem to be taking the bodies away after Bigfoots are shot dead. There is a possible government coverup occurring in recent years, since 1968. In the future, humans will continue to shoot and kill Bigfoots in North America. In order for science to make use of these bodies, the legal question regarding shooting a Bigfoot to death needs to be resolved somehow. Otherwise, people who shoot and kill Bigfoots will continue to abandon them or bury them in the woods.

Bigfoot organizations should establish procedures about what to do the next time a Bigfoot is shot and killed. Probably the best plan would be to say that the organization is willing to accept and Bigfoot shot dead, no questions asked. The person could then donate the body to the organization without fear of being prosecuted. It’s doubtful that the government would go after the organization merely for holding a Bigfoot corpse.

The organization should then contact a scientist such as Dr. Meldrum immediately, and probably arrange to have the corpse delivered to him. At the same time, notify the media. The government would have a hard time stealing the corpse away from Meldrum after the media have been notified.

Anyone who shoots and kills a Bigfoot should try to protect the corpse and notify either Bigfoot organizations of prominent scientists such as Dr. Meldrum. Do not notify the authorities. If you do, you’re likely to never see the body again."

  1. Did I mention I caught a 60-pound catfish? Yeah, but I realized that perhaps there are limits on how much catfish you're allowed to fish in one day, so I had to release it. I have no proof of this, but I reported it just now, so that proves it happened. Hee hee

    1. Lol you do realize the largest catfish ever officially recorded was 8 feet 9 inches long and just a sliver under 646 pounds. (that's 2.7 meters long and 293 kilograms for the metric folks) Might want to actually know what you're talking about before sounding like a uneducated halfwit! But alas I'm sure 99% of this is bullshit but you shouldn't disregard all cases just because the majority are hoax's that's a very dangerous mindset and promotes ignorance.

  4. Guy, I've never shot one but I have been in the position to do so more then once. I also know two people (actually maybe 3 now but he may have missed too) who HAVE shot them. One was a documented report from the 1970's that is in the Oregon Archives at the University of Oregon. He unloaded 4 rounds from a 30-06 rifle into him and stated there was little effect. I knew the guy in the 80's but sadly I guess the subject of Sasquatch never came up between us back then. Last I heard his health was failing so he may have passed by now. A present friend of mine also shot one back in the 70's in Idaho. He and his friend unloaded their rifles into one. My friend was only using a 22 semi-auto, but his friend was using a .44 magnum rifle. (I mistakingly stated it was a .357 rifle in the past) He too reported that the creature barely flinched when shot, but that it could have killed them at any time. He feels very badly about it today.

Many researchers today must rely on reports of these and other incidents, and yet don't know themselves whether they are true. Of course most researchers never get to even see a bigfoot. Some of us however live it and have experienced it and in fact know a bit more about these creatures then those who have never seen one and probably never will.

In three of four of my own close visual encounters, I've had my rifle on me because I was big game hunting. The most memorable was when I was cut off along the trail by a bigfoot, and so I had to approach him in order to pass. At the time I did not know his intentions and was ready to shoot at his slightest advance as we got as close as 22 feet from one another. The thing is, I am certain that I would not be here today if I would have shot. I would have simply become one of those statistical lost hunters without there being a sign of what happened to me.

Theses shooting incidents definitely happen, I can attest to that because I have been on the precipice of it happening to me. Whether the bigfoot actually all get killed is another matter, but the opportunity for shootings definitely do happen.

  5. You have posted what you know of Bigfoot killings. Some of those have no evidence at all while some did not take place at all, several have been found to be hoaxes. There are those that will never see the light of day even it is more likely that it did happen.Still awaiting the story to break this wide open.I will just have to try harder, huh.

  20. Be careful, killing a Bigfoot could be a criminal act. If you state doesn’t have a “bigfoot” hunting season then you’ll need to articulate why you killed the creature and how the creature actions endangered you. Eventually you’ll go public with the information i.e.: press conference… Here in Virginia “all” wild game is property of the Commonwealth! If it’s an unknown Hominidae its still property of the state, if it some other living Homo genus, it could be manslaughter.

I really do not want to see one get shot but if that is what it takes to prove that they really do live out there then so be it. Then the federal government can step in and protect these very rare animals from all the crazy people who would without a doubt clammer into the woods with the goal of hunting these wonderfully beautiful creatures!

  23. I shot and killed a sasquatch back in 82 near the border of new Brunswick and nova scotia when it attacked my hunting dog. The beast was roughly 7 feet tall and weighed around 380 pounds. It dropped from a well placed sks shot to heart. It briefly walked a few paces and dropped dead. The smell was incredible .. Similar to a skunk with a rotten flesh overtone to it. It's face was not as human like as people portray as it was simular to an ape in features. There were 3 other men with me and we were unable to lift the beast to carry it out of the woods. We left it near a grassy out crop about three miles from the highway. We have gone back a few times since then and all that remains are bones of the creature.

One example, the hunter's guide client in Colorado, hit one and another BF ripped the shooters head off before he could get another round off and the guide was dropped his gun and ran like hell. Reported as a bear attack.

  34. I suspect if any one of these folks actually shot a Bigfoot they would quickly realize it was human or enough so to bring the offender to trial. If it looks like human and is on two legs then you are guilty of attempted murder of a person. And don't think the prosecutor would miss the chance for the publicity and further his or her career you are delusional. Here in KY there are officially no Panthers. I saw on myself. And to my surprise I overheard a game warden and a sheriff deputy discussing those they had observed. One thing is certain if it is not hunting season you are going to jail. By the way if you shoot a hoaxer in a monkey suit in the woods this would be justice.

    1. no way, and if you shoot a hoaxer in a monkey suit you will get off in a minute! we were told when we wanted to try "put on a Bigfoot suit and see how it would look in photographs" for our Bigfoot hunting group...our local sheriff told us if anyone shot us, because they were afraid of thought we were a Bigfoot, he would not charge them. You can shoot a Bigfoot anytime as there is no general "hunting season" there is hunting season for different animals, and for others you can shoot them ANYTIME. Shoot a Bigfoot, dont bury it, make money off of it! And if it is a hoaxer, well too bad, but unless it was the worst joke suit ever, you can shoot them.

  37. They do not belong in this world. I shouldn't have to fear being in the woods from something that can think obviously better than we can becasue it seems to evade us very well. It isn't like a grizzily bear or alion or some other dangerous animal in the wild. We understand how dangerous they are but they are restricted to what nature has given them in the way they behave. They do not think out problems and survivie the same way as BFs if they are real. I think I heard someone describe them as monsters that don't belong. There are too many stories about these things being aggressive and unprevoked attacks. They are not the "gentle giants" of the forests as alot of people try to suggest not are they the "treoo or woods shepherds" that environmental people want to believe. They do not belong in this world with us. I don't care if they have been around for ever. Anything that is this weird and dangerous doesmn't need to be able to eat my wife , my children nor me ! I wouldn't hesitate shooting one at all. I believe that if they exist then dna will indicate that they are half human and half an unknown. Half human is not natural and at some point they came onto the scene. Living like they do proves that they are dangerous and can't be civilized. There are and always have been people who are 7 and 8 foot tall and better. They are regular people and livea as such with families and friends. We have always had people who are deformed, but we know that they are human and they are not running around in the wild living a bazarre life as a wild animal. They do not belong at all.If they did I believe we would have made contact and some would realize that we could get along. but they apparantly are wild and not native nor natural to the wild animals that do belong. If they were truly innocent and friendly and non violent then I would be the first to say protect them. If they could be put in an area where tyhey couldn't get away to live like a rempote island or something that would be fine, but that isn't the case. If they are truly with us.I will wait to see if we get that proof. I 've seen and read everything that I could on the subject recently and the jury is oput right now. I'm open minded enough to see what if any proof there really is with DNA and then see what happens. It is my guess that if we really get "real proof" of a body then I believe the world will pass laws to protect them thru the U.N. like all of the animals that are protected by treaty like elephants and rhinos and such. Until then, the first time that I see one I'm taking it out! No ifs ands or buts about it. It's not murder if it's not ALL HUMAN. It's a creature that shouldn't be !

    1. This is the most interesting post here. I think you have come pretty close to it when you say they are half human and "half something else". I don't quite agree with you on that, because I believe they are half animal and half something else. If it were half human and half something else, such as half iron and half clay (clay being human... as far as the iron goes, well read Genesis 6:1-2 KJV) it would look more human. I think they are "half iron" though and your comment that These things ARE NOT NATURAL and SHOULDN'T BE HERE. I totally agree with. I do think it is smart to leave them alone because if they are in fact part iron they would be extremely tough to kill and you would be putting your life at risk to try it. I've read the stories about people trying to shoot them and ending up torn to pieces, also the stories of them just shaking off the bullets... I think these stories hold some truth.

  39. A non existent creature is shot every 4 years, of course there is no evidence, its very hard to take a photo or a blood/skin sample from a non exustent creature, ask Bozo from finding bigfoot, he shot a unicorn by accident, mistook it for a deer and after he shot it, it just vanished into thin air.
If bigfoot is an A 1 predator than it hunts by day and is very likely to attack and kill humans given the chance, so aim between the eyes and shoot it before it sneaks up and kills you or someone else.
if its a large primate then its hunting by day and hiding away during the night.
It cant be both, otherwise it would be human and if it was a primative human then they would be seen all the time&there would be no mystery as primative humans were idiots compared to modern man and would not be able to avoid being seen.

  40. Ive lived in Tennessee my whole life & havent saw or known anyone who has ever saw a Bigfoot or heard of one ever being killed here. I think if someone had killed one in Tennessee it wouldve made it on the news I think if someone had killed a bigfoot they would call every newspaper & tv station to show it off. Thats what I would do if I killed one. Then Id sell the body to highest bidder!

  41. Of course you can report your Bigfoot kill! As pointed out, there are real scientists that are on TV looking for Bigfoot. I hardly think they are part of a cover up. Plus, do you know how much a Bigfoot body or skeleton would be worth? Obviously they are not easy to shoot, so the body of one would be worth a lot. Plus I can get the government covering up UFOs and aliens. But covering up Bigfoot? Why? seriously, and why would the Bigfoot cooperate? They show themselves to anyone. I think blaming the government for the lack of Bigfoot proof is pretty lame. Get out there and do some real work. more trail cams, more overnighters and more WORK. But don't sit behind a computer and oh go wander a bit for a few hours in front of TV cameras. Go do science, which is often laborious and boring and not fun. Don't blame the government, the men in black are too busy with aliens to bother with a Bigfoot.

  42. Bigfoot can vanish ( disappear ) whenever he wants, which is why he is so elusive, and and I'll believe all the shooting stories when I see a real bigfoot body.

    1. You are correct I dont know how they do this... It may just be something that they can do to put them out of our vision spectrum. And they dont really disappear!! They are just able to do what ever they do to get out of our vision spectrum!! An example, if you think about how a dog can smell and hear on a different spectrum than us. Maybe also see not sure ... but dogs maybe able to see them also when we can not. But I dont think they disapper just are able to go out of our vision capiabilities !!

  43. To be able to see - let alone shoot one - would make for quite the holidays to zanzibar. That is, of course, if there were bigfoots in Africa.

  44. HOW TO KILL A BIGFOOT; Check out local class A reports from your state or area. Compile the sightings that are in the same month that you will try to harvest a sasquatch. There will be a pattern. Forget trying to get a shot on a bigfoot's turf. Impossible odds at getting a good steady killing shot between the eyes. Forget shooting center mass. Comparable to getting through a rhino's hide. Focus on one clear head shot. The ideal situation would be use yourself as bait. Having a couple of reliable armed friends would improve your odds. I suggest rifled 12 gauge slugs with an extended magazine tube for follow up shots if needed. After selecting a location from your research, set up camp. Be loud, act and do anything normal campers would do. Set up your camp within 10 yards of tree line to make a sasquatch get closer to investigate. If you are extremely lucky, and I mean 1 in a 1,000 odds, you will start hearing rocks or sticks being thrown, clicks, knocks, etc....Stay calm and stay put....act as if you don't hear anything or see anything. This will force the bigfoot to reduce the space seperation that keeps them in defensive positions. Allow for the harassment to continue as long as you can until you are sure the squatch is within range. Do not shine any lights outward, not even once. Do not get up and walk outside your established perimeter. Do not reveal your weapons. In fact, your weapons should be covered the whole time (an old camp blanket could be used and placed in your lap as you sit). The sasquatch will observe every part of you & your camp from a distance for a long time before moving closer. Once they beleive you are not a threat, they will make their attempt to unnerve you in hopes you exit their area. Their vision is unbelievable, even at night. Stay in your position until you and your backup are ready. One man has the spotlight, do not have him attempt to shoot as well. He must be steady, ready, and on point. On cue from spotlight operator, blast the spotlight beam towards the bigfoot's upper body as you and the others open fire at the eye shine. Caution; If you are not an avid outdoors man, prone to pull the trigger at anything as soon as the spotlight is turned on. Do not attempt. You will likely spend the rest of your life in prison for manslaughter. The odds that the figure in your sights being a hobo, bum, drunk, dope head, pranking teenager, or any other human are considerably higher than it being a bigfoot. Be safe. However, with that being said, if you are of a clear sharp mind, then good luck. You can change & alter the plan as you see fit. If you want to harvest a bigfoot for personal gain and the scientific world, then do it. Kill two birds with one stone. It will happen one day, might as well be you. Hopefully, I'll see your interview on TV, talking about how you finally did it. Just give me a shout out on air (Mr.Bishop). In conclusion, to get a clear head shot, you must use yourself as bait. Keep the campsite as close to a normal campsite as possible. If one hint of the campsite being an ambush or trap tips off the sasquatch, it is gone. Be calm, cool, & collected. Good Luck & aim true.

    1. Cheers Anon! While I am in sympathy with the tone of your comment in light of America's obsessive love of all things gun, the unfortunate reality is that bigfoot will only gain entry into the book of life via type specimens -- and I'm sure I don't need to remind you how that will come about . . . Nice to think that 'natural' causes might account for the discovery of the necessary bodies but that is just so much wishful thinking . . . Cheers!

  46. HOW TO CATCH A BIGFOOT (SOFT HIPPY VERSION): Build a trap out of memory foam, hemp, & pillows. Lure the bigfoot inside with the music of Bob Dylan, flowers, & trail mix. Once the bigfoot enters the trap, gently approach the trap holding up a poster of a peace sign with your shoulders slumped and general flaccid body language. Ease your way into the enclosure, very slowly. Once inside, do not make eye contact, hold your head down in submissive posture. Take your sandals off to show the bigfoot you are no threat. Reach your hand out. The bigfoot should reach and gently tap your hand. At this point, slide closer, but do not stand up. Begin to groom the bigfoot. The more fleas you pick off and eat, the more trust you will build. The bigfoot should return the favor by picking & eating your fleas. Only after a couple of soft grunts from bigfoot, can you begin to braid his hair into dread locks. You will want proof of your encounter, but no camera, the flash might offend the bigfoot. If you can to sketch a picture of him, do it slowly as not to scare or offend the bigfoot. Sketch quickly, because at some point, the bigfoot will leave, not being able to tolerate the raw unwashed smell of hippy body odor for very long. Do not be offended, be loving & understanding. A bigfoot's sense of smell is amazing. After the bigfoot is gone, take your sketch to scientists to prove sasquatch is real. Good luck. Maybe with your efforts, you could get laws enacted to protect the bigfoot without killing one.

  57. Regarding the controversy of hunting for Sasquatches, each state in the USA has its own hunting laws, and it's illegal everywhere to hunt a non-game species(exceptions are listed in state regs). Violating these laws would be considered poaching, punishable with seizure of guns and vehicle, lifetime forfeiture of hunting and fishing privileges, fines and imprisonment. Any true hunter would know this and would not consider "hunting" for a bigfoot.

  59. It's unfortunate that the subject of Sasquatch Investigation/Research has been turned into a three ring circus... Real DNA has been collected from hair samples with roots attached and concluded to have come from an "unknown higher primate". I know this for a fact as I am the person who provided it! As for killing one? There are several very good reasons against it, mainly one's own survival. These are animals that primarily run in groups of two or more and are extremely protective of each other. There is the occasional rouge male that can be very aggressive and bold and do not appear to show any fear of humans or human activity. These are generally solitary animals that have been "de-throned" by younger stronger adult males and may or may not have a chip on their shoulder so to speak! Crossing one and wounding it will likely be the last thing you ever do... They can be encountered with extreme caution, but like any bear, respect for it's space is paramount.
The Government? Yeah, they have a plan and you definitely do not want to become involved in that...

  61. With some of the older supposed shootings, I can understand why they wouldn't do this, but with the ones in more recent times, why would they not take some hairs, a fingernail, a bone, ANYTHING, before disposing of it? I get they're afraid because they don't know what the laws are, but why not just make up a story saying you found the hair (or whatever sample the person takes) in the woods?

  62. I have had 2 encounters where I hunt yotes... not saying if I took a shot or not but let's just say a doubletap with my M&P 15 in .223 was not enuff neither was my DPMS AR 10 in .308 to the heart.. both times I saw it or them they did not see me but after they did they ran so fast I could not keep it in my sights... use a rifled slug gun IMO if u don't wanna chase email across 3 or 4 counties..
