Oriental Yeti is No Primate, but Crypto-like

Its already got a nickname, "oriental yeti". Not that we think this creature is anyway related to the Bigfoot, Sasquatch or Yeti, but we thought this would appeal to your crypto-sensibilities. Even though the name is a bit of a misnomer, everybody here at the club thought this particular case was fascinating. This creature will be going through DNA testing to help identify it.

On another note you will notice the original article at the Times Online is dated for tomorrow, proving that our physicist at BLC Labs were serious about building that time machine.

Here is an exerpt from the Times Online UK

A bizarre creature, dubbed the “oriental yeti”, has baffled scientists after emerging from ancient woodlands in remote central China.

The hairless beast was trapped by hunters in Sichuan province after locals reported spotting what they thought was a bear.

One hunter, Lu Chin, said: “It looks a bit like a bear but it doesn’t have any fur and it has a tail like a kangaroo.

“It also does not sound like a bear — it has a voice like a cat and it is calling all the time — perhaps it is looking for the rest of its kind or maybe it's the last one.

"There are local legends of a bear that used to be a man and some people think that’s what we caught," he added.

Now stumped local animal experts have shipped the mystery beast to scientists in Beijing for DNA tests.

Legend of Beerfoot

Well fans, Bigfootin' makes for all sorts of strange bedfellows. Its probably a symptom of the subject matter. Granted, without evidence there is a lot of wiggle room for people to share novel speculations and the odd theory or two; but in the interest of Bigfoot we embrace each other. If you've read us before, you know we believe a good idea/theory can can come from anywhere. We have never really said any theory is too Bizarre. We thought we could say that about people too--until we met Craig.

Craig could talk 'squatch with the rest of them. He was a friend of a friend so he already had a free pass, he was "in". Then we heard he had created a short film reenactment of an unfortunate experience he had had with his mom's drunk boyfriend when he was very young. This is his story, this is a true story, this is "Legend of Beerfoot".

Pay attention to the film at about 22 seconds in, Craigs brilliance as an actor shines as he sweeps himself offscreen.

Craig played himself in the video, the drunk boyfriend was played by Craig's friend Barney (we met him too).

Despite the humor, the cinematic brilliance, and the uncomfortable feeling to watch through-out, Bigfoot Lunch Club salutes you Craig. Anybody who has had to endure that kind of humiliation and still pursues the discovery of Bigfoot is a friend of ours.

Virtual Bigfoot "Easter Eggs"

Our post title has Easter Eggs in quotes because we are not talking about the hard-boiled easter eggs children search for every easter. We are talking about the virtual easter eggs hidden in several types of media. I'll let Wikipedia do the explaining:

A virtual Easter egg is an intentional hidden message, in-joke or feature in an object such as a movie, book, CD, DVD, computer program, web page or video game. The term was coined—according to Warren Robinett—by Atari after they were pointed to the secret message left by Robinett in the game Adventure. It draws a parallel with the custom of the Easter egg hunt(s)...

Its like trying to find Alfred Hichcock's cameos in his own movies or trying to find Al Hirschfeld's daughters name, Nina, in his famous charactures.

But we are all about Bigfoot right? So a little known fact is video game programmers like to hide Bigfoot in their games. While there are about a dozen reported Bigfoot Easter eggs in video games, we picked the best three we could find screen shots for.

1. America's Army: Q-Course Bigfoot.
One of the most complicated Bigfoot Easter Eggs to find. Requiring users to click this, type that, walk here, go there. In the end you have Bigfoot staring at you from a spaceship. Interesting note: America's Army (also known as AA or Army Game Project) is a series of video games and other media developed by the United States Army and released as a global public relations initiative to help with recruitment. 2. Grand Theft Auto
This is a clever one. The clue to reveal Bigfoot is actually based on the shape of the map. The shape your looking for? None other than a Bigfoot print.

3. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
On the 12th and 17th holes on Sahalee Country Club, look beyond the green and you will see bigfoot watching you.
