German Blog: Sylvanic Bigfoot Fake!

Last month we reported the availability of a new video containing footage of the Sylvanic Bigfoot. We did not, however, pony up the cash to pay for the other videos that supposedly had even better footage of Bigfoot. We left that to Sasquat.com. Sasquat.com is a bilingual German/English and Chris Kummar is the blogger in residence. He goes on to describe his blog as:

I write about people, monsters and myths. Nothing symbolizes the myth better than the Sasquatch, a race of ape-men who will live in the wilds of America. No "monster" leaves so many traces, and is seen as often as this legendary animal. Besides Sasquatch I write about other topics from the fields of cryptozoology and anthropology.

I am a freelance journalist and a student from Switzerland.

Do I believe what I write about? At least I believe that it is worth writing about. Do you have to see something for yourself to be aloud to believe in it? If it were so, I can't believe in Bigfoot. But what is "believe"?

I don't believe. Believe is faith, religion, "modular" thinking... I'm open or try to be at least. Based on numerous correspondences with scientists and other Bigfoot-afficiandos, I consider it very likely that Bigfoot (or Sasquatch, as the Native Americans call it) exists.

Okay, so what is Chris's take on the Sylvanic Bigfoot?

Todd Standing is a filmmaker and bigfoot researcher from Western Canada. He claims to have had at least three encounters with bigfoot and to be in possession of two videos of these creatures. In 2007 he got worldwide media attention for his submission to get bigfoot protected in Canada.

I strongly suspect that Standing is a liar too.

Nothing is lost in translation there, he goes on to describe why the videos are so poor and we have reposted his pictures below.

He has shot two videos. One is too short and too dark to make a definitive conclusion. It shows a furry thing disappearing behind a rock. It could be a man in a suit, it could be a bear, it could be a sasquatch. This video can be watched on his website www.sylvanic.com for free.

Olympic Torch to be Passed in Front of Bigfoot

According to a CNN iReport this is the Bigfoot statue that will witness the passing of the torch for the 2010 Winter Olympics being held in Canada.

This is Bigfoot's contribution to the Olympic torch run, and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Bigfoot is located on the Trans Canada Highway in Vermilion Bay, Ontario (between Kenora and Dryden). He is anxiously awaiting to see the Olympic Torch pass in front of him sometime in early January.

We decided we needed to know more about this statue so we did some research.

Date Built: Late 1950's or early 1960's. Moved to present location in 1982.
Height: 18 Feet (5.5 Metres)
Weight: 3,800 pounds.
Made of: Cement and iron
Located: Trans Canada Highway, in front of a gas station.

Background: As far as the current owners are aware, the statue was made by a man who visited the area. It took him an entire summer to make it.

Surprisingly, even though it is pretty heavy, this monument seems to move around a bit. It was located in the nearby community of Waldhof until 1982, when it was purchased by Liz and Max Lang to place in front of their gas station.

There is a speaker inside the figure with a microphone at the garage so that "Big Foot" can occasionaly talk to people who stop and take their picture in front of it.

A Decade of BLC Bigfoot Banners

Okay, we've haven't been around ALL decade, but 2010 does mark the beginning of a new one. This next decade is going to be a blast, if 2010 is any indication! Starting with the Oregon Sasquatch Symposium we have a lot of other surprise Bigfoot projects we are planning on sponsoring next year!

As we look forward to where we are going, lets reminisce about where we've been. These are the banners Bigfoot (Researcher's) Lunch Club has had over the decade. You can click on any image to enlarge and see more detail.


Who doesn't love harry? But, although it was slightly altered, we felt it was plagerizing.

Even if we put a fork in Harry's hand, it still felt unoriginal, we did introduce the byline, "A tasteful pursuit of Bigfoot discovery." get it? "Tasteful?" "Lunch Club?" Hoo boy!

Introduction of our mascot "Elsie" makin' tracks!

We wanted to focus on the fork in Elsie's hand, so we added sparkles and lost the tracks.

The forest panorama that is still used today. that icon on the bottom left is what we referred to as our badge.

We added the picnic table to the forest and the "universal" picnic sign in the foreground.

Today's banner, we kept the picnic table and dropped the word "researchers" from our URL, so we dropped it from the banner as well. <--That rhymes!
