New Year, New Bigfoot Monster Movies

At the very least this movie gets props for creatively referencing The March of Progress (Rudy Zallinger, 1970), illustration used to visually depict human evolution.

Just like the illustration, Throwback seems to be in a long line of Bigfoot movies that have only minor differences from it's immediate predecessor, but that would be unfair. Throwback is a pioneer, in fact, according to Bloody-Disgusting.com, it is the first movie about Australia's Yowie. 

We get most of Bigfoot movie news from horror websites. This is no different, today (01/04/13)  Bloody-Disgusting.com announced the new trailer for the Yowie horror flick, Throwback.

Throwback, which stars Shawn Brack, Anthony Ring, Melanie Serafin and genre film veteran Vernon Wells (The Road Warrior, Commando, Innerspace), is about two modern-day treasure hunters, a female park ranger and an embittered ex-cop who encounter a savage Bigfoot-like monster known as a Yowie in the jungles of Australia’s Far North. It is the first feature film ever made about Australia’s legendary cryptid. The film recently wrapped production in Cairns, Queensland, and is now in post-production.

The Throwback facebook page describes the plot as:

Two modern-day treasure hunters -- Jack ( Shawn Brack) and Kent (Anthony Ring) -- who go searching for the lost gold of a legendary outlaw in the remote wilds of Far North Queensland. But instead of riches, they find a different kind of legend, a ferocious Australian monster known as a Yowie, Australia's answer to Bigfoot, and a savage battle for survival ensues. Thrown into the mix are a park ranger named Rhiannon and an ex-homicide detective named McNab.

Enjoy the new trailer below, which you have to admit has some amazing cinematography. The composition of some of these shots are breathtaking.

Happy Halloween: Sasquatch as a 1970's Subgenre of Horror

Just in time for Halloween, the folks at the website, Not Coming to a Theater Near You, have been reviewing the Sasquatch Cinema from the 70's every Friday this month of October 2012. These reviews of  "Sasquatch Cinema" are a part of a larger annual installment, going on it's 9th year, called 31 Days of Horror. What they call Sasquatch Cinema, we call Sasquatchploitation.  Surprisingly they review one movie, Shriek of the Mutilated, that is completely off our radar and  not on our Top 51 Sasquatchploitation Movies List. The reviews are by David Carter and really excellent reading if you enjoy film in general. Below you can read an excerpt from the four reviews so far this month.

Big Foot

[John] Carradine anchors the film as Jasper Hawkes, a Southern traveling salesman who has made his way west with his associate Elmer (John Mitchum, Robert’s older brother). Radiator trouble leaves the pair stranded on the roadside for a time, but they make a hasty retreat after Elmer finds a massive footprint on the banks of a creek. High above them, the beautiful Joi is having engine troubles of her own and is forced to parachute to safety when her Cessna loses power. Joi lands on a heavily wooded mountainside, and she barely has time to get her bearings before she’s grabbed by a pair of large, hairy arms.

Meanwhile, a curiously well-mannered and clean-cut biker gang cleans out a small general store’s supply of beer and junk food. A pair of young lovers, Rick and his girlfriend Chris, break away from the group to have some alone time and stumble upon a giant, ape-like creature buried in a shallow grave, but surprisingly don’t seem very concerned about it and have a picnic nearby. Rick leaves to make some tune-ups to his bike when he’s attacked and knocked unconscious by a creature similar to the one in the grave. Upon waking, he finds Chris gone and he rushes back to town to report the incident. Due to his outsider status, he finds few willing to listen to his tale, despite the fact that they all agree they’ve heard of similar attacks by large monsters recently. Jasper listens to Rick, however, and he believes the monster the young man saw to be the legendary Bigfoot. Jasper and Elmer offer to help Rick find Chris, knowing that the capture of a such a monster will make them both millionaires.  Read More...

The Legend of Boggy Creek

Boggy Creek’s narrator informs us that his first encounter with the Fouke Monster was an indirect one. “I was seven years old when I first heard him scream. It scared me then; it scares me now,” he muses, impressing that the creature is both authentic and something to be feared. The film reiterates this idea of authenticity subtly in the scenes immediately following, which introduce the small town of Fouke, Arkansas. The rural southern charm of the town is emphasized in such a manner as to imply that the residents of Fouke would be incapable of deception and are knowledgeable enough about the local fauna to be able to correctly identify an animal or, conversely, know when they came across an unknown animal.

Authenticity established, the remainder of Boggy Creek consists of case studies and reenactments of recent encounters with the Fouke Monster, who was peculiarly very active in the early seventies. The stories range from somewhat benign sightings of the creature at a distance to harrowing encounters where the lives of the witnesses were in danger. Certain details about the creature emerge over the course of the film: it is nocturnal, aggressive, and carnivorous. It is important to note that the latter two aspects differ greatly from the general consensus that Bigfoot is a gentle beast concerned primarily with avoiding detection. The Fouke Monster seemingly intentionally draws attention to itself in many instances, most notably in the film’s dramatic climax where he terrorizes a family over the course of several nights. Shriek of the Mutilated 

Shriek of the Mutiliated is the story of a trip to investigate Yeti sightings by Professor Ernst Prell and his graduate students, Tom, Lynn, Keith, and Keith’s girlfriend, Karen. The Yeti is Prell’s pet project – actually, obsession – and rumors that a previous expedition ended in disaster frightens the students. At the expedition site upstate, the students are introduced to Prell’s collaborator, Dr. Werner, and his imposing Native American manservant, the mute Laughing Crow. Werner gives Prell the welcome news that he has seen and heard the creature in the area recently, and the team begins their hunt early the next morning. Tragedy strikes the group almost immediately as Tom is attacked by a hulking monster with shaggy white hair. The remaining team learns of his fate much later, after a day of searching only finds Tom’s partially eaten leg.

Prell’s obsession with the Yeti determines that the expedition must continue, despite vociferous protests from Karen. The others agree to continue on, and Lynn is the next to fall victim to the Yeti. The surviving group is now faced with the harrowing possibility that they too will die and decide to undertake a drastic, previously unthinkable tactic in a last ditch effort to capture the creature. The group attempts to lure the Yeti into a trap using Lynn’s corpse as bait. This too fails; the Yeti escapes, the group is scattered, and Keith is knocked unconscious. Karen is attacked by the Yeti after returning to the safety of the lodge, but dies of fright before the beast can kill her. Read More...

Sasquatch: the Legend of Bigfoot

Sasquatch draws its influence from the Bigfoot films that preceded it, most notably 1976’s The Legend of Bigfoot. In addition to the likely intentional mimicry of the title, Sasquatch takes that film’s main focus – real life wildlife expert and Bigfoot hunter Ivan Marx – and essentially replicates him for its main character, Chuck Evans. Those who have seen Legend will be familiar with Marx’s frequent poetic musings about nature, ecology, and his mysterious prey, and Sasquatch’s Evans provides similar commentary during the film’s mostly uneventful trek to the fictional Peckatoe River Valley in western Canada. The similarities between the two films’ narration is intentional, as is Sasquatch’s appropriation of Legend’s overall structure and the documentary format. To the unfamiliar, Sasquatch would appear equally as authentic as Legend or any other Bigfoot documentary film—a technique that would greatly enhance the impact of the film’s conclusion.

While Evans and crew are making the journey to their ultimate destination, the film borrows a trick from The Legend of Boggy Creek and includes reenactments of famous Bigfoot encounters to satisfy the film’s horror quota. The first of these is the “Ape Canyon incident” from 1924, which took place near Mt. St. Helens in Washington State. Four miners claimed to have been attacked by a group of ape-men/”mountain-devils”/Sasquatch who battered the outside of their cabin and pelted them with rocks and logs for an entire night. Per one of the experiencers, Fred Peck, claims the men shot at the creatures – killing at least one – but no bodies were found the next day. Peck attributes this to his belief that the creatures were extra-dimensional beings—a not uncommon belief in Bigfoot lore. Sasquatch doesn’t address this aspect, but instead treats the incident as wholly terrestrial and factual in a well-executed scene that manages to generate a good deal of terror. Read More...

WATCH: The Woodsman, The Fourth "Found Footage" Bigfoot Movie of 2012

Another Found Footage Bigfoot Horror Movie?  Yes. 

Add another film title to the list of Bigfoot "found footage" movies this year; The Lost Coast Tapes, Exist, Bigfoot County, and now an internationally award-winning film The Woodsman. 

In case you need a refresher on the genre of found footage. Wikipedia does a great job:

Found footage is a genre of film making, especially horror, in which all or a substantial part of a film is presented as discovered film or video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists. The events on screen are seen through the camera of one or more of the characters involved, who often speaks off screen. Filming may be done by the actors themselves as they recite their lines, and shaky camera work is often employed for realism.

The Woodsman follows, in suit, with footage found from an adventuring TV show host, think Les Straub or Bear Grylls, looking for the Mayan Bigfoot. Although it premiered March 9, 2012, there has not been a DVD release yet as it is still being screened at other venues. After the following description and plot synopsis you can watch the trailer below.

Mauro Bosque (Maurice Ripke – Prison Break, Angel Dog, Doonby) is a true adventurer: he loves adrenaline and extreme sports. Mauro and his producer, Chucho (Julian Guevara – Prison Break, Missionary Man), are about to shoot another episode of their outdoor extreme-reality internet show, “Hombre y Tierra.” This episode has Mauro hiking through some very dense and deep woods in search of some of the world’s most significant and extraordinary caves in the mountains of Belize.

His journey began in January 2007. The reality show consists of Mauro videotaping himself looking for ancient ruins, or traces of long lost Mayan remains. But Mauro never returned from this trip.

What took place in the mountains of Belize has been a mystery until now. The recent findings of Mauro’s lost tapes will reveal the pieces of this unusual unfinished puzzle and settle the truth once and for all.

With Mauro now on his own he quickly becomes lost when the river he planned to follow becomes uncrossable. His journey to find a way across the river leads him directly into the territory of an ancient beast who does not want Mauro encroaching his boundaries. Mauro knows something is now tracking him and as the darkness closes in around him he becomes increasingly wary of who or what is out there waiting.
This is the terrifying story of a man searching for a dream, only to find his greatest nightmare.

The camera was found in a remote part of the San Ignacio Forest in Belize. Covered in dirt and blood and broken beyond repair, it sat on a forestry official’s desk for weeks before being linked to a missing internet personality, Mauro Bosque.

The government of Belize made the decision not to release the disturbing footage found on the camera and memory cards found in Mr. Bosque’s personal effects located nearby. Mauro’s Producers located the footage some time later and somehow managed to have it returned to them. Accusations of bribery abound but to date have not been proven.

What happened to Mauro in the forest during that three day period has remained a mystery until the recent discovery of this footage – footage that was likely stolen from a government office in Belize. This is the terrifying story of a man searching for a dream, only to find a living, breathing nightmare. This is the story of Mr. Bosque’s ill-fated, final adventure. Some things should remain a mystery.

Bigfoot County, New Sasquatchploitation Movie Following Found Footage Trend

Is Walter Higgins part of a viral media campaign for
 the newest Bigfoot movie Bigfoot County?

We like to take credit for coining the term Sasquatchploitation, we've been using since 2009 and after all we have the list of top 51 Sasquatchploitation Movies. If we can't claim the term at least we been keeping you up-to-date with the newest Sasquatchploitation coming 'round the bend; The Lost Coast Tapes, Exist and more recently Bigfoot County. Bigfoot County, based on a press release, is "a found footage thriller about a group of filmmakers who ventured into Siskiyou County in Northern California, an area widely known for its Bigfoot sightings, and disappeared. Their footage was found a year later."

That's it. That's the trend. "Found footage." What is found footage? Think low-budgets like Blair Witch Project, Paranormal Activity, and even big-budgets like Cloverfield.

With the announcement of Bigfoot County it is a trifecta this year for found footage Bigfoot movies.

More interesting, the movie Bigfoot County may have already started an online viral campaign by creating a  faux YouTube channel. After all, the whole idea of found footage is to give a "reality" quality to everything in the movie, media outside the movie contributes to the "reality." Blair Witch created fake news clippings and published them online, Cloverfield used texting on cell phones.

Watch the video below that seems to jive with the description of the Movie of finding footage in Siskiyou county. Some of you may remember this as the Walter Higgins, retired park ranger from Siskiyou county.

Grindstone will release the film this winter through Lionsgate Home Entertainment.

“I went up to shoot a movie on Bigfoot; then a local I met with presented me with evidence that blew my mind,” says BIGFOOT COUNTY director Stephon Stewart. “After seeing this film, you will begin to believe what many have doubted since the 1967 Patterson/Gimlin Bigfoot footage was released.”

Grindstone’s Ryan Black adds, “The film puts a scary twist on a classic legend. Bigfoot enthusiasts and horror fans alike will really enjoy what Stewart has created.”

In addition to his directing duties, Stewart also produced the film with Richard Halpern along with executive producers Johnnie Colter and Joey Napoli. Angelique De Luca is associate producer.

Syfy stomps out more schlock with ‘Bigfoot’

The cable network last year scored a hit with “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,” a film best remembered for the scene in which its stars, ’80s singers Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, brawled at a lawn party.

Hoping to cash in again on a twisted sense of nostalgia, Syfy pits ’70s teen idols Danny Bonaduce of “The Partridge Family” and Barry Williams of “The Brady Bunch” in a race to snare Bigfoot.

Neither actor has the camp appeal of Tiffany or Gibson, but they sure are bosom buddies in bad acting.

Bonaduce plays a concert promoter nicknamed Harley, and Williams, in a Mike Brady perm, appears as his onetime musical partner Simon, now an ardent environmentalist. There are sly references to their sitcom pasts. Harley loves to rib Simon about sleeping back in the day with his mom, who sounds a lot like Carol Brady. One of Simon’s many female followers is a Marcia look-alike with an IQ that matches her shoe size.

The two men clash as Harley’s outdoor rock concert in Deadwood, S.D., is ruined when the legendary mountain monster stomps all over the party.

There are real actors in the film. Sherilyn Fenn (“Twin Peaks”) plays the frazzled law enforcement officer who tries to save the community. She’s dressed like Frances McDormand in “Fargo,” oversized hat and all, and it’s sad her career has dribbled to this. Couldn’t Lifetime’s “Army Wives” draft her for duty? Howard Hesseman (“WKRP in Cincinnati”) is a hoot as the venal mayor, who, when asked to pony up some money to capture Bigfoot, offers up the firefighters’ pension fund, reasoning it will never be missed. Oscar and Emmy nominee Bruce Davison plays a sheriff and also directed “Bigfoot,” and to his credit, he keeps the film moving at a brisk clip.

The cheesy comedy horror film doesn’t stint on the CGI beastie. Bigfoot here is King Kong-sized, with feet that can flatten an unsuspecting human. His footsteps reverberate like thunder, yet he always manages to sneak up on his victims. He has a nasty habit of biting heads off the clods who get in his way and kicks cars like soccer balls into helicopters, severely undercutting the military’s attempts to corral him. src: Boston Herald

We forgot that Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce had crossed paths before on Celebrity Boxing. This show is essentially a rematch.

Barry Williams accepts Danny Bonaduce 'Bigfoot' rematch 'on one condition: I can kick his butt'

The two actors were among ABC's most popular stars of family-friendly sitcoms in the late '60s and early '70s, Bonaduce as precocious Danny on "The Partridge Family" and Williams as earnest Greg on "The Brady Bunch." Their paths crossed memorably in the 2002 premiere of FOX's short-lived (as in, two episodes) "Celebrity Boxing," with Bonaduce pretty much ruling their bout.

On Saturday (June 30), they're back together in "Bigfoot," a new Syfy movie that makes them opponents again, this time in pursuit of the title creature. Other notables are involved -- Howard Hesseman ("WKRP in Cincinnati") and rock icon Alice Cooper are among co-stars, and actor Bruce Davison ("X-Men") is the director -- but there's no question the Bonaduce vs. Williams rematch is the main event.

"I felt terrible," Bonaduce tells Zap2it of the outcome of their meeting a decade ago. "I box, and I had boxed for years. It was a good payday, but trainers and other people I knew said, 'Hey, he's gotten himself into a situation. You've got to carry him a bit.' But boxing is kind of a dirty business, and he was going to a real gym, where champions of the world train."

In a separate interview, Williams maintains he "got in a lick or two" during the bout but admits, "Danny dominated the fight. I've got to tell you, on both a personal and professional level, that was not very comfortable for me ... so when they approached me about being an adversary of Danny's in 'Bigfoot,' I said, 'I'll do it on one condition: I can kick his butt.'  The Deadbolt also reminds of the celebrity boxing match and with a nod to how both actors have moved on to make the SyFy Bigfoot movie.

Fighting Over Bigfoot with Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce

Nowadays, years removed from their boxing match and even more from the shows that made them household names, Danny Bonaduce has a better understanding of Barry Williams, the man, after their time in the ring.

“I hit him so hard my shoulder hurt and he continued to get up. What’s the biggest scene in Cool Hand Luke? The guy who won’t stay down. George Kennedy, if I’m not mistaken, is not the star of that scene. It’s Paul Newman because he refuses to stay down. And I know this may sound like an overdramatization of a fight, but until you’ve been in one, they’re pretty dramatic. That’s my impression of Barry Williams.”

In taking on Bigfoot, both Danny and Barry were all about having fun together on a project that pits one against the other as they both hunt for the mysterious creature for different reasons.

For Danny’s Bigfoot character, it’s all about the hunt and kill. For Barry’s Bigfoot character, it’s all about conservation and preservation. But, like in life, there can only be one final outcome for a hunter either way.

Going into the Bigfoot, how did Barry feel about going up against Danny on screen instead of the ring?

“Doing the movie, we’re coming into it in a completely [new] way, both trying to make the best movie and have the most fun and make the best movie we could. So there’s no real animosity there except the acting part.”

SyFy's 'Bigfoot' pits Danny Bonaduce, Barry Williams against a forest monster

SyFy network wraps up what they've been calling "the most-dangerous month on television" on Saturday with "Bigfoot," a low-budget original film that stars 1970s sitcom stars Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams. Like most SyFy Saturday night movies, this one appears to have been shot on a budget of roughly $37, and features special effects that may have been created on a Commodore 64 computer. But no one watches a SyFy flick expecting great artistry. People want laughably bad acting and campy dialogue, and "Bigfoot" certainly delivers.

Bonaduce plays a radio DJ in Deadwood, S.D., who is organizing a 1980s rock festival (oddly headlined by Alice Cooper, and only attracting an audience of about 50 people). Williams plays a washed-up musician turned environmental activist who is concerned about the festival's effect on the environment. Before the former stars of "The Partridge Family" and "The Brady Bunch" can really square off, the festival is disrupted by Bigfoot, and mayhem begins. 

There's lots of running around, people being stomped on, and plenty of geographic oddities (South Dakota, at least in the SyFy world, is located near the Pacific Northwest). It all culminates with a scene on top of Mount Rushmore that pays homage to but hardly rivals the finale of Alfred Hitchcock's "North By Northwest."

Included in the cast are Andre Royo (he went from "The Wire" to this?), Sherilyn Fenn (of "Twin Peaks" 20 years ago), and Howard Hesseman (from another '70s sitcom, "WKRP In Cincinnati"). It's directed by Bruce Davison, a one-time Oscar nominee who these days is playing judges on shows like "Drop Dead Diva." 

Should you watch it? Heck, yes! It may not rise to the campy glories of "Jersey Shore Shark Attack" earlier this month, but it's got Williams and Bonaduce enough cheese to make nachos. Don't forget the tortilla chips! src: OregonLive.com

SyFy has released a trailer for the much anticipated Bigfoot movie starring favorites from 60's sitcoms. However, if you think Greg Brady, Danny Partridge, and a Sasquatch are the only reasons to check out the telepic, then you are sorely mistaken. This cinematic tour de force also stars Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Howard Hesseman (WKRP in Cincinnati), and shock rocker extraordinaire Alice Cooper (School’s Out). So, it’s basically the BEST CASTING EVER is what we’re saying.

USA Today teases at a few updates regarding the much anticipated SyFy movie simply titled Bigfoot. Click on the following link for our previous coverage of the SyFy Bigfoot movie. Below is an excerpt of the USA Today article

•Bigfoot, starring Bonaduce (The Partridge Family) and Barry Williams (The Brady Bunch). Airs June 30. 

"We've put together four fun movies in a row," says Syfy original movies chief Thomas Vitale. "It's June. It's escapist popcorn fare. They're the kind of movies that are released theatrically in the summer — the big, special-effects-driven movies to give you an emotional release."
They may mix fun and fear, but "their production is taken very seriously," says Ken Badish of Active Entertainment, which produced Arachnoquake and past Syfy originals Swamp Shark and SwampVolcano. "We're able to do so much more even on a relatively lower budget than we could a few years ago." 

Badish says technological advancements have enhanced filmmakers' ability to add higher-quality CGI for less. "We have the ability to deliver production values that are comparable to studio films because we're using the same cameras, the same lenses, the same (executive producers) and crews. We're able to make better B-movies." 

And the actors appreciate the benefits of mixing horror with hoke, and are quick to joke about it. 

"I had one condition, and that was that I could beat the heck out of Danny Bonaduce at some point in the movie," says Williams, best known for playing squeaky clean Greg Brady. (In a 2002 match on Fox's Celebrity Boxing, Bonaduce, who played the mischief-making Danny Partridge, bested him.) 

Williams knows that casting him and Bonaduce is a publicity stunt with the potential to draw curious fans of these vintage '70s shows. "When you team Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce in a movie, that's inescapable," he says. 

Bonaduce shares the sentiment. "If you took The Partridge Family-Brady Bunch quantum out of this, you'd have yourself a pretty good sci-fi movie about Bigfoot. It's just that big numbers (of viewers) are going to be coming because of Greg Brady vs. Danny Partridge going after Bigfoot. Otherwise, you'd just have the Bigfoot cult and the sci-fi cult."

Another Sasquatchploitation movie. (Read our top 51 Sasquatchploitation movies) Except this one has a big budget behind. Not only does it have a familiar director, Eduardo Sanchez from "Blair Witch" fame, it will star creature celebrity Brian Steele as Bigfoot whom will be costumed and designed by WETA workshop, famous for Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and Avatar.

Below is  short excerpt from an interview from Collider.com

SANCHEZ: I just wrapped a movie. I never really say this about any of my movies when I wrap because you just never know, but I think this next movie is going to be big. It’s a Bigfoot movie, and I’ve been trying to make a Bigfoot movie since I was 16 years old. This is the third Bigfoot script that I’ve been involved with and helped write. It’s called Exists, and we just wrapped in Austin, Texas. I’ve tried to do some Bigfoot movies with the studios, and the studios were always very hesitant because nobody knows if Bigfoot stuff will work. Part of what makes it fun is the idea of, “Is this going to work?” But, one of our assistant editors cut a quick trailer for it, as we were shooting it, and it looks really, really great. It seems like I may have made the film that I’ve been waiting to watch, since I was a teenager. Who the hell knows, if it will be any good at all, but right now, I’m feeling really optimistic about it. I’m really excited about it.

Do you know what you’ll be doing after that?

SANCHEZ: I don’t know. I’m going to take the summer off and maybe write a little bit, and then I have some other scripts that I’m working on. Right now, I’m working on the post for the Bigfoot movie, and then I’ll see what happens after that.

Is Exists done with found footage?

SANCHEZ: Yes, it’s actually the first found footage movie that I’ve done since Blair Witch. It’s totally found footage. I was going to use a similar technique to Lovely Molly, where I mixed them, but the closer I got to shooting it, it just started making more sense to do it the other way. Everything that I’ve seen Bigfoot in is all found footage. It’s always people with a video camera or a film camera, capturing him, so that seemed to be the right way to film the movie. I’m very happy I did it because it helped us out with production and it also gives it a real creepy vibe that would have been hard to get, if I had shot it normally. I’m happy with it. We spent a lot of money on the suit. WETA, the guys who did The Lord of the Rings, designed the suit, and Spectral Motion, who are Academy Award nominated effects guys, built the suit. Brian Steele was the guy in the suit, and he’s a famous creature guy. It was pretty amazing. I also really enjoyed shooting in Texas. I’m looking forward to that. I haven’t looked forward to one of my movies this much in a long time, probably since film school., so I’m pretty excited about it. You never know what you have, but it feels like we have something special, so I’m hoping and keeping my fingers crossed.

New Clues to SyFy Bigfoot Movie Starring Danny Bonaduce

The SyFy movie has a star-studded cast from the 70's through the 90's

Amazon.com has the blu-ray version of SyFy's movie, "Bigfoot"  already listed for pre-sale on the website. We have had pretty good coverage of SyFy Bigfoot movie if you want to catch up. At the amazon website we get the new clue: When Bigfoot attacks an 80s themed music festival, a concert promoter and hippie burnout will do anything to protect the "endangered species."

So now we a little more about the plot structure of the show, which has been top secret for some time. Even the IMDB page has very little to offer. All we knew so far was Bigfoot is discovered in South Dakota, two life-long rivals (Williams and Bonaduce) battle to capture the creature — one to exploit it and one to save it.

The rest of the B-lister cast will be, but not limited to, Howard Hesseman (Head of the Class), Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Andre Royo (The Wire), and rock legend Alice Cooper (School’s Out).

When will it be released? Well, if Amazon says it will be available in for purchase in August, we think SyFy will broadcast the movie during the sweep week 28 June – 25 July 2012. Sweep week is when the ratings matter the most, and when broadcasters bring in the big guns to try and get ratings. If we don't see the SyFy Bigfoot movie by July will most likely wait until November.

Bigfoot 'Exists' in new film

Haxan Films and Amber Entertainment are looking for Bigfoot, setting an October start date for lensing "Exists," with "Blair Witch Project" director Eduardo Sanchez to helm.

"Exists," written by Jamie Nash and Sanchez, follows a group of twentysomethings who take a trip to a cabin deep in the wooded wilderness and are methodically hunted by a Bigfoot-like beast.

"The film is the first in a trilogy exploring and reinventing the Bigfoot myth," Sanchez said. "We all remember the terror of watching such classics as 'The Legend of Boggy Creek,' and I look forward to making Bigfoot scary again."

Robin Cowie, Gregg Hale and Andy Jenkins of Haxan and Jane Fleming and Mark Ordesky of Amber are producing.

Weta Workshop and Spectral Motion are collaborating with the production team on the design and build of the monster, to be portrayed by Brian Steele ("Hellboy," "Predators," the "Underworld" trilogy). Haxan Films And Amber Entertainment To Start Production On EXISTS April 9, 2012

Haxan Films and Amber Entertainment announced today they will start production on EXISTS on April 9th at Spiderwood Studios in Elgin, TX with Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project, Lovely Molly) directing.

Produced by Robin Cowie, Jane Fleming, Andy Jenkins and Mark Ordesky. The screenplay is written by Jamie Nash. The ensemble cast includes Dora Madison Burge, Samuel Davis, Roger Edwards, Chris Osborn and Denise Williamson. Brian Steele (Predators, Hellboy), the well-known “suit actor” will play Bigfoot. The film’s Executive Producers are Gregg Hale and Reed Frerichs.

EXISTS is Sanchez’s first foray into found footage since The Blair Witch Project. The film is a horror-thriller that chronicles a group of friends who set out into a remote Texas woods for a weekend of fun and are stalked and hunted by Bigfoot.

This is the second film produced under a multi-picture collaboration between Haxan Films (Blair Witch Project) and Amber Entertainment (The Frozen Ground). The first, Lovely Molly garnered critical acclaim after bows at the Midnight Madness lineup at Toronto and SXSW and is being released by Image Entertainment on May 18th. Production Designer Andrew White and Cinematographer John W. Rutland are also returning.

In a recent interview by www.mywesttexas.com Bobcat was driving through willow creek after spending three days looking for Bigfoot. below is an excerpt of the Bigfoot part of the interview.

During the interview, Goldthwait was driving through Eureka, Calif., on his way back from Willow Creek, which is "kind of the Roswell of the Bigfoot community. I'm coming back from looking for Bigfoot."

No success in the search but Goldthwait said, "I did meet some interesting people."

Today he described his life as "Pretty good.

"I really enjoy making movies (especially those he's not in). You are talking to a guy who just spent three days in the week looking for Bigfoot. I don't take my time on the planet for granted and go out of my way to look for the fun things to do."

This is not the first time Bobcat has gone on record with his fascination with Bigfoot. While promoting his movie World's Greatest Dad, during an 2009 interview for atnzone.com, he waxes poetically about the philosophy of bigfoot.

Yeah! But that kind of (snaps fingers). I want to set it in the Bigfoot community, because as I was poking around there, the Bigfoot people all think they have the right version of Bigfoot. Some of them have seen it, others are ripping them off and they all fight. And I just thought it was a good way to examine faith without it being a parody of Christianity, because that has been done and is always very cartoony. So I thought about using Bigfoot as God, and I want to make it in a screwball kind of way. It’s just an idea.

Around the same time (2009) promoting the same movie, Bobcat is interviewed on a website called Groucho Reviews. Again he talks about the faith of Bigfoot.

"Oh, you know, I’ve always wanted to write a movie about Bigfoot," because I wanted to do a satire on faith, and I didn’t want to set it in the world of churches and stuff—just ‘cause the people who believe in Bigfoot all fight amongst each other really hard. So maybe someday I’ll make "His Girl Bigfoot."

It is clear that Bobcat Goldwait has had Bigfoot on the mind since at least 2009 and the intrigue still gets to him to this day. Bob, if your reading this, we think your a fantastic director/comedian and you should let us take you out to the woods.

Here is an update to the post about Donny Bonaduce and Barry Williams starring in the SyFy Bigfoot movie. Other familiar faces include Billy Idol, Bruce Davison, from the TV version of Harry and the Hendersons, Howard Hessman, AKA WKRP's Johnny Fever (you younger ones might remember him from "Head of the Class") and Sherilyn Fenn of Twin Peaks.

Syfy’s newest creature feature is amassing yet another pop-culture cauldron of familiar names.

The network’s upcoming Bigfoot — which already stars the previously announced power team of Danny Bonaduce (The Partridge Family) and Barry Williams (The Brady Bunch) — is adding the following actors: Howard Hesseman (Head of the Class), Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Andre Royo (The Wire), and rock legend Alice Cooper (School’s Out). Bruce Davidson is directing.

The story: When Bigfoot is discovered in South Dakota, two life-long rivals (Williams and Bonaduce) battle to capture the creature — one to exploit it and one to save it.

The movie will debut later this year. My only quibble: The name. Just…  Bigfoot? Not Bigfoot: Toes of Terror? Not Bigfoot Stomp-Squatch? No Bigfoot-aconda? Here’s our previous list of Syfy’s most awesomely bad movie titles.

We just got word from Fangoria reporting we will have to wait. Ugh!!

Theres not much information on this yet, but TV Guide is reporting:

Move over, Sharktopus: Syfy's next batch of campy TV movies include zombies, a Jersey Shore shark attack, Danny Bonaduce fighting Bigfoot and Shannen Doherty as Hansel's long-lost sister.

The cable network is set to announce a new slate of original movies on Tuesday, including Bigfoot, which will star The Partridge Family's Bonaduce opposite another 1970s sitcom icon, Barry Williams (The Brady Bunch) as they hunt for the mountain creature.

YNN (Your News Now) recently did a report on an indie Bigfoot film shot in Manor, Texas. manor is a stand-in for a fictional town called Quality, Oregon.

The fictional town of Quality, Oregon might look familiar to residents of Manor, where City Hall sets the scene for a contentious town meeting. The conflict between Bigfoot research experts and concerned citizens plays out in a key scene for "Squatch!" It's debut feature film from Austin-based Look Now Productions.

Manor is also the old home town of director Carlos Samudio. He plans to shoot about 75 percent of the film in Texas with the rest on location at Timothy Lake in Oregon.

Principal photography continues trough the summer as the local cast and crew give their take on a long running supernatural debate.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Weekend Bigfoot Hunter

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will star as a Weekend Bigfoot Hunter in upcoming movie The Monster Hunter's Survival Guide

The Monsters Hunter's Survival Guide is a live action adventure film based on the comic book miniseries by John Paul Russ that was published by Zenescope Entertainment. The film will be produced by Simon Kinberg through his Genre Films shingle. The movie is tentatively scheduled for a 2013 release.

The release date seems pretty impossible according to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnsons's schedule. Johnson is currently filming G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, where he plays Roadblock. He’ll follow G.I. Joe 2 with the action thriller Snitch, where he stars opposite Susan Sarandon and Michael K. Williams. He’s also attached to play Goliath in a retelling of the David and Goliath story in Goliath, but that film is currently lacking a David. Johnson will next be seen in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which opens February 10th, 2012.

Based on the premise of the comic book, we would like them to take enough time to do this right. The comic book series has covered how to survive against all sorts of monsters. The first five issues have covered the undead, cryptids, giant monsters, unnatural beasts, and fantasy creatures. It's a good bet they will definitely include Bigfoot in the movie, as all the initial buzz has The Rock as a Bigfoot Hunter. The best description of the comic book is found at CS Moore studios where they are creating an action figure for the Monster Hunter:

Award-winning Bigfoot Movie "Paper Dolls" Premiers Online Tonight

Looks like we need to add another movie to our Sasquatchploitation list. Sasquatchploitation? Yeah I said it. Sasquatchploitation is an reference to the portmanteau of blacksploitation. Blacksploitation is a film genre that emerged in the United States in the early 1970s when many exploitation films were made that targeted the urban black audience.

We don't judge here at Bigfoot Lunch club; whether Bigfoot is exploited as the monster-of-the-week or a cuddly wookie you would let your kid sleep with (but not your girlfriend). We are all for it. So without further ado check out the marketing piece BadFritter films wrote for us below and tune in to Papar Dolls tonite (Exact time unannounced)

This movie will ultimately leave audiences in a psychological limbo divided on their theories of what really happened in the dark forests of Montana. Production of the film was completed in spring 2008 and Paper Dolls is now available for distribution.

Bigfoot film 'Night Claws' Begins Shooting

A Bigfoot creature is roaming the piney woods of south Mobile County, feasting on pretty blondes, brunettes and bad guys alike.

This is the basis of the latest low-budget action film to spring from the pen of David Prior. Prior, 54, a screenwriter, director and producer, made 18 movies the late 1980s and early 1990s, including “Mutant Species,” “Raw Justice,” “Night Trap,” “Raw Nerve” and “Invasion Force.”

It will be “gory, but not too gory,” he promised. “We have a great creature coming up. It’s a traditional rubber, foam and latex costume; no CGI. I didn’t want any CGI in the movie, although David wants some,” --Producer Fabio Soldani

Although this movie may not be as respectful to the Sasquatch as Christopher Munch's film Letters from the Big Man, it probably never intended to be.

Sly Stallone's brother, Frank Stallone is starring in it. Even though he's the most famous of the acting ensemble, its not surprising he doesn't get top billing. After all, he can't even get a descent role when his own brother writes, directs and produces a movie. He played "the singer" in the first three Rocky Movies.

You may remember Alissa Koenig from another David A Prior movie titled Zombie Wars.

Actor Ted Prior, who has starred in about half the movies his brother has made in south Alabama, plays Koenig’s husband, Charlie Parker, a tough East Coast type on a camping trip, led by seasoned survivalist Sharon Farmer (Tara Sanford Kleinpeter).
