Bobcat Goldthwait Completes His Faith, Religion, Bigfoot Movie

Bobcat Goldthwait Talks about Bigfoot and Religion
Bobcat has been teasing about a Bigfoot movie since at least 2009. (Read: Bobcat Goldthwait Spends 3 Days Looking for Bigfoot). According to Dread Central the movie is complete and in the can. It seems the Bigfoot genre of filmaking will continue to be tied to the found footage format.
The next film in the found footage sub-genre pertaining to Bigfoot is coming at us via comedian turned filmmaker Bobcat Goldthwait, and we've got the early details on this latest sliver of Sasquatchploitation right here. Dig it!

Bleeding Cool is reporting that Goldthwait has shot and completed his next movie entitled Willow Creek, and it is a cinéma vérité-style flick about Bigfoot. Not the truck either because that would be just weird. We're talking the big hairy guy who's lived in various forms of myth and legend now for decades.

The site adds that this project isn’t a schlocky horror picture and that Goldthwait has apparently mixed satire with some suspense, and overall his film is apparently rather driven by “exploring the idea of bearing witness.” They go on to report that there are various characters in the film who believe they’ve seen the elusive Sasquatch and give differing accounts, going so far as to even fight over them. Goldthwait is said to use this kind of tension to get in some observations on faith and religion.

Stay tuned and keep on Squatchin'!

SRC: Dead Central
In a recent interview by www.mywesttexas.com Bobcat was driving through willow creek after spending three days looking for Bigfoot. below is an excerpt of the Bigfoot part of the interview.

This is not the first time Bobcat has gone on record with his fascination with Bigfoot. While promoting his movie World's Greatest Dad, during an 2009 interview for atnzone.com, he waxes poetically about the philosophy of bigfoot.
Yeah! But that kind of (snaps fingers). I want to set it in the Bigfoot community, because as I was poking around there, the Bigfoot people all think they have the right version of Bigfoot. Some of them have seen it, others are ripping them off and they all fight. And I just thought it was a good way to examine faith without it being a parody of Christianity, because that has been done and is always very cartoony. So I thought about using Bigfoot as God, and I want to make it in a screwball kind of way. It’s just an idea.
Around the same time (2009) promoting the same movie, Bobcat is interviewed on a website called Groucho Reviews. Again he talks about the faith of Bigfoot.
"Oh, you know, I’ve always wanted to write a movie about Bigfoot," because I wanted to do a satire on faith, and I didn’t want to set it in the world of churches and stuff—just ‘cause the people who believe in Bigfoot all fight amongst each other really hard. So maybe someday I’ll make "His Girl Bigfoot."
It is clear that Bobcat Goldwait has had Bigfoot on the mind since at least 2009 and the intrigue still gets to him to this day. Bob, if your reading this, we think your a fantastic director/comedian and you should let us take you out to the woods.

Stomping Ground, The Newest Bigfoot Movie

John Bobek & Tarah DeSpain in Bigfoot Movie, "Stomping Ground"

Fans, you know we rub elbows with the Hollywood elites, mostly because we tell you so and try drop names as often as possible. Today's post is no different. The name we drop is none other than Dan Riesser, a producer on E!'s The Soup. Oh sure you know him from some of The Soup's funniest skits  like the parody trailer for Dolphin Tale. You may have even seen his short film NightOfThePunks.com.

After 3 short films Mr Riesser is ready for the full length feature. The movie is titled Stomping Ground and being promoted as: A young couple travels to small town North Carolina and ends up on an
impromptu Bigfoot hunt that threatens their relationship & their lives.

Folks, this is a great time to get Stomping Ground on your radar, since shooting begins this October (2012), you will be in on the ground floor of this production. These guys know how to use social media, unlike previous independent films we covered. Stomping Ground has website, a Twitter page, A Facebook Page and even a Tumblr Page. Don't click yet, let us tell you more about the movie and we will repost the social media for Stomping Ground below.

They will be shooting in the same area Michael Green got his thermal video. Dan Riesser cares a great deal about the research community, and after several emails we can vouch for the respect he intends towards Bigfoot research in the film.

Understandably, we have been asked not to share everything we have been privy to. There seems to be something safe about the "Flat Iron Bar Sequence," so we are resharing the twitter photos below.

As you fans know we don't support every Bigfoot movie that comes our way, but we can't say enough about what we have heard so far about this movie. If your a fan of film, and have previewed Dan Riesser's earlier work, you can tell he has the skill for editing, pace and tone; his ability to film dialogue is impressive. You can follow the movie's progress at the links below and let them know BLC sent ya!

Follow Stomping Ground at:

You can now help finish Stomping Grounds. They only need a little help to finish post-production!  You can go directly to the Stomping Ground KickStarter Page or use the widget below.

New $2.4M Yeren Movie Begins Shooting in China this October

( Wiseacre Films / August 29, 2012 )'Yeren' design sketch by Chris Walas.

"Our Yeren is going to be the protector of the forest rather than the violent beast seen in typical Bigfoot movies," -- Ethan Wiley; Director of Bigfoot

There are at least four Bigfoot movies coming out this year; The Lost Coast Tapes, Exist, Bigfoot County, and The Woodsman. And several that are currently in production. The Yeren movie will be different, it will take place in China, unlike the rest of the batch that focus on the North American Bigfoot.

If you are not familiar with the Yeren, it is what we call in the community a Bigfoot variant, some say, "another Bigfoot species," but that would be assuming too much. Just as the Yeti in the Himalayas and the Yowie in Australia, China has their own version of Bigfoot called the Yeren. If you are interested in learning about other Bigfoot variants, there over 100, check out the interactive a/k/a/ Bigfoot World Map. The Yeren has bee increasingly in the news, click the following link to read about our previous Yeren News.

This brings us to some exciting news we've read at The Los Angeles Times. With the un-original title, "Bigfoot," director, Ethan Wiley and costume FX expert Chris Wallace will spend $2.4 Million dollars making a movie in China about the Yeren.

China makes its peace with this Bigfoot

A Hollywood co-production about a legendary Chinese creature will begin soon. Film regulators shun superstition, but viewers increasingly like the fantastic.

By Jonathan Landreth
August 28, 2012, 7:40 p.m.
BEIJING — Unlike Japan, where Godzilla destroyed countless Tokyo landmarks, or South Korea, where celluloid sea beasts slink around the riverbanks into Seoul, China has no creature-feature tradition because film regulators historically have shunned superstition on the silver screen.

But a new film, "Bigfoot," aims to take a swipe at China's long-standing monster movie ban. The Hollywood co-production of a local legend will begin shooting in a central China nature reserve in October with help from a special-effects master who worked on "Gremlins."

Chris Walas, who also won an Oscar for his makeup design on "The Fly," co-wrote the English-language script for "Bigfoot" with director Ethan Wiley, whose next picture, "Elf Man," starring "Jackass" regular Jason Acuña, will be released in North America before Christmas.

"It's been a dream of mine to bring the Yeren story to life," said Walas, using the Mandarin word for the giant "wild man" of Chinese lore who is akin to the Sasquatch of Pacific Northwest legend in the United States. Walas spoke to a news conference here on Tuesday in a pre-recorded video.

The State Administration of Radio Film and Television typically bans any plot elements that question proven science or the supremacy of the Communist Party, or otherwise may malign Chinese people. In June, censors cut space aliens disguised as ethnic Chinese restaurant workers in New York from "Men in Black 3."

Yet Chinese audiences are increasingly drawn to fantastical Hollywood superhero movies such as "The Amazing Spider-Man," which opened here this week and features an implausible lizard man. And an increasing number of Chinese-made films are depicting the supernatural in an attempt to compete. A fox demon features in the summer hit "Painted Skin 2," for instance, but the Chinese monsters seldom get away with contemporary settings and are placed safely in the past instead.

PHOTOS: U.S. - Chinese box office comparisons for 2012

"Notes early on in this two-year process said, 'You can't make the Yeren story because it's not scientific fact,'" L.A.-based "Bigfoot" producer Richard Jefferies of Wiseacre Films said. "But then they just started coming around."

"Blue Crush 2" actress Sasha Jackson will star as the tutor of a Chinese boy whose plane crashes in the Shennongjia Nature Reserve.

"It's a survival story," said Wiley, who during Tuesday's news conference presented location scouting footage from the lush forest in Hubei province. "The only way to film with truth and integrity is to shoot in the area where the Yeren may truly exist."

Although the Bigfoot movie has gotten the green light from censors, observers caution that China's film establishment is unlikely to quickly throw open the gates to all things fantastic.

"SARFT has apparently erected a monster-proof shield around Beijing and indeed around all Chinese cities. This is not because giant monsters are particularly scary, obscene or conducive to social unrest. It is because they are politically unacceptable," wrote longtime Beijing resident and media blogger William Moss in a July essay, "Godzilla vs. the SARFT Monster."

"If you can watch a rubber-suit monster smash a tiny representation of your society and not worry that it will somehow erode faith in the actual society, then you've taken an important step," wrote Moss, who has a young son. "And you've done a wonderful thing for every small boy in your country."

Still, perhaps there's hope for horror here. The Chinese Bigfoot film follows close on the heels of the first domestic-made creature film shot all in Chinese.

"Million Dollar Crocodile," which reportedly cost Beijing Geliang Media 20 million yuan, or $3.1 million, to make, grossed $1.9 million in June, according to Shanghai-based film industry consultancy Artisan Gateway. Last week, the CGI-heavy "Crocodile" opened the Montreal World Film Festival.

René Seegers, a Dutch filmmaker who moved to Beijing four years ago and is producing the Bigfoot movie, found lead investor Xiao Mingxing, a real estate mogul turned head of the Shenzhen Emperor Star International Film & Culture Co. They then turned to Wiley and Jefferies, who had previously worked with Walas.

"China needs genre films," said Seegers. "They don't have the technique. Chris Walas' expertise is completely lacking here. The Yeren he's designing is not just an ape suit. It's a suit whose parts can move complexly, like 'Planet of the Apes.' Together with modern compositing and CGI, the U.S. side is capable of making this more real than the Chinese side at the moment."

Seegers said "Bigfoot" initially will cost about $2.4 million. It will be shot with some Chinese dialogue and the filmmakers have made an offer to actor Wentworth Miller, who is hugely popular in China because of widespread piracy of the "Prison Break" television series.

The forest where Wiley will shoot was granted state-level protection in 1999, but state media reports say it lies in one of the nation's poorest areas. At the news conference Tuesday, Wiley thanked officials from the Shennongjia Tourism Board and the Hubei Communist Party.

"Our Yeren is going to be the protector of the forest rather than the violent beast seen in typical Bigfoot movies," he said. "We're exploring the dual nature of the creature, sitting on the razor's edge between man and animal. The film will show the delicate balance between nature and civilization."

WATCH: The Woodsman, The Fourth "Found Footage" Bigfoot Movie of 2012

Another Found Footage Bigfoot Horror Movie?  Yes.
Add another film title to the list of Bigfoot "found footage" movies this year; The Lost Coast Tapes, Exist, Bigfoot County, and now an internationally award-winning film The Woodsman

In case you need a refresher on the genre of found footage. Wikipedia does a great job:
Found footage is a genre of film making, especially horror, in which all or a substantial part of a film is presented as discovered film or video recordings, often left behind by missing or dead protagonists. The events on screen are seen through the camera of one or more of the characters involved, who often speaks off screen. Filming may be done by the actors themselves as they recite their lines, and shaky camera work is often employed for realism.
The Woodsman follows, in suit, with footage found from an adventuring TV show host, think Les Straub or Bear Grylls, looking for the Mayan Bigfoot. Although it premiered March 9, 2012, there has not been a DVD release yet as it is still being screened at other venues. After the following description and plot synopsis you can watch the trailer below.
Mauro Bosque (Maurice Ripke – Prison Break, Angel Dog, Doonby) is a true adventurer: he loves adrenaline and extreme sports. Mauro and his producer, Chucho (Julian Guevara – Prison Break, Missionary Man), are about to shoot another episode of their outdoor extreme-reality internet show, “Hombre y Tierra.” This episode has Mauro hiking through some very dense and deep woods in search of some of the world’s most significant and extraordinary caves in the mountains of Belize.

His journey began in January 2007. The reality show consists of Mauro videotaping himself looking for ancient ruins, or traces of long lost Mayan remains. But Mauro never returned from this trip.

What took place in the mountains of Belize has been a mystery until now. The recent findings of Mauro’s lost tapes will reveal the pieces of this unusual unfinished puzzle and settle the truth once and for all.

With Mauro now on his own he quickly becomes lost when the river he planned to follow becomes uncrossable. His journey to find a way across the river leads him directly into the territory of an ancient beast who does not want Mauro encroaching his boundaries. Mauro knows something is now tracking him and as the darkness closes in around him he becomes increasingly wary of who or what is out there waiting.
This is the terrifying story of a man searching for a dream, only to find his greatest nightmare.

The camera was found in a remote part of the San Ignacio Forest in Belize. Covered in dirt and blood and broken beyond repair, it sat on a forestry official’s desk for weeks before being linked to a missing internet personality, Mauro Bosque.

The government of Belize made the decision not to release the disturbing footage found on the camera and memory cards found in Mr. Bosque’s personal effects located nearby. Mauro’s Producers located the footage some time later and somehow managed to have it returned to them. Accusations of bribery abound but to date have not been proven.

What happened to Mauro in the forest during that three day period has remained a mystery until the recent discovery of this footage – footage that was likely stolen from a government office in Belize. This is the terrifying story of a man searching for a dream, only to find a living, breathing nightmare. This is the story of Mr. Bosque’s ill-fated, final adventure. Some things should remain a mystery.

Media Blitz for Tonight's SyFy Bigfoot Movie Staring Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce

More like King Kong than Bigfoot, but we will take it. Tune in tonight as SyFy broadcasts, "Bigfoot" Starring  Barry Williams and Donny Bonaduce.

TONIGHT! "Bigfoot" on the SyFy Channel 9/8 Central!

All right fans this is the event we have been telling you about since our Feb 2 post, "New Bigfoot Movie with Danny Bonaduce". In fact, click on the following link if you want to read our entire SyFy Bigfoot Movie Coverage. The media is doin' an all out blitz revealing lots of enticing details and mocking comments. We picked out the best quotes from around the web and shared them with you below.

Cast of Syfy channel's "Bigfoot!", clockwise starting top left: Sherilyn Fenn, Andre Royo, Barry Williams, Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Danny Bonaduce, Bruce Davison and  Howard "Johnny Fever" Hesseman.

Syfy stomps out more schlock with ‘Bigfoot’

By Mark A. Perigard

The cable network last year scored a hit with “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,” a film best remembered for the scene in which its stars, ’80s singers Tiffany and Debbie Gibson, brawled at a lawn party.
Hoping to cash in again on a twisted sense of nostalgia, Syfy pits ’70s teen idols Danny Bonaduce of “The Partridge Family” and Barry Williams of “The Brady Bunch” in a race to snare Bigfoot.
Neither actor has the camp appeal of Tiffany or Gibson, but they sure are bosom buddies in bad acting.
Bonaduce plays a concert promoter nicknamed Harley, and Williams, in a Mike Brady perm, appears as his onetime musical partner Simon, now an ardent environmentalist. There are sly references to their sitcom pasts. Harley loves to rib Simon about sleeping back in the day with his mom, who sounds a lot like Carol Brady. One of Simon’s many female followers is a Marcia look-alike with an IQ that matches her shoe size.
The two men clash as Harley’s outdoor rock concert in Deadwood, S.D., is ruined when the legendary mountain monster stomps all over the party.
There are real actors in the film. Sherilyn Fenn (“Twin Peaks”) plays the frazzled law enforcement officer who tries to save the community. She’s dressed like Frances McDormand in “Fargo,” oversized hat and all, and it’s sad her career has dribbled to this. Couldn’t Lifetime’s “Army Wives” draft her for duty? Howard Hesseman (“WKRP in Cincinnati”) is a hoot as the venal mayor, who, when asked to pony up some money to capture Bigfoot, offers up the firefighters’ pension fund, reasoning it will never be missed. Oscar and Emmy nominee Bruce Davison plays a sheriff and also directed “Bigfoot,” and to his credit, he keeps the film moving at a brisk clip.
The cheesy comedy horror film doesn’t stint on the CGI beastie. Bigfoot here is King Kong-sized, with feet that can flatten an unsuspecting human. His footsteps reverberate like thunder, yet he always manages to sneak up on his victims. He has a nasty habit of biting heads off the clods who get in his way and kicks cars like soccer balls into helicopters, severely undercutting the military’s attempts to corral him. src: Boston Herald
We forgot that Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce had crossed paths before on Celebrity Boxing. This show is essentially a rematch.

Barry Williams accepts Danny Bonaduce 'Bigfoot' rematch 'on one condition: I can kick his butt'

By Jay Bobbin
The two actors were among ABC's most popular stars of family-friendly sitcoms in the late '60s and early '70s, Bonaduce as precocious Danny on "The Partridge Family" and Williams as earnest Greg on "The Brady Bunch." Their paths crossed memorably in the 2002 premiere of FOX's short-lived (as in, two episodes) "Celebrity Boxing," with Bonaduce pretty much ruling their bout.
On Saturday (June 30), they're back together in "Bigfoot," a new Syfy movie that makes them opponents again, this time in pursuit of the title creature. Other notables are involved -- Howard Hesseman ("WKRP in Cincinnati") and rock icon Alice Cooper are among co-stars, and actor Bruce Davison ("X-Men") is the director -- but there's no question the Bonaduce vs. Williams rematch is the main event.
"I felt terrible," Bonaduce tells Zap2it of the outcome of their meeting a decade ago. "I box, and I had boxed for years. It was a good payday, but trainers and other people I knew said, 'Hey, he's gotten himself into a situation. You've got to carry him a bit.' But boxing is kind of a dirty business, and he was going to a real gym, where champions of the world train."
In a separate interview, Williams maintains he "got in a lick or two" during the bout but admits, "Danny dominated the fight. I've got to tell you, on both a personal and professional level, that was not very comfortable for me ... so when they approached me about being an adversary of Danny's in 'Bigfoot,' I said, 'I'll do it on one condition: I can kick his butt.' And I do. And he was great about it." src: Zap2it
The Deadbolt also reminds of the celebrity boxing match and with a nod to how both actors have moved on to make the SyFy Bigfoot movie.

Fighting Over Bigfoot with Barry Williams and Danny Bonaduce

by Reg Seeton

Nowadays, years removed from their boxing match and even more from the shows that made them household names, Danny Bonaduce has a better understanding of Barry Williams, the man, after their time in the ring.
“I hit him so hard my shoulder hurt and he continued to get up. What’s the biggest scene in Cool Hand Luke? The guy who won’t stay down. George Kennedy, if I’m not mistaken, is not the star of that scene. It’s Paul Newman because he refuses to stay down. And I know this may sound like an overdramatization of a fight, but until you’ve been in one, they’re pretty dramatic. That’s my impression of Barry Williams.”
In taking on Bigfoot, both Danny and Barry were all about having fun together on a project that pits one against the other as they both hunt for the mysterious creature for different reasons.
For Danny’s Bigfoot character, it’s all about the hunt and kill. For Barry’s Bigfoot character, it’s all about conservation and preservation. But, like in life, there can only be one final outcome for a hunter either way.
Going into the Bigfoot, how did Barry feel about going up against Danny on screen instead of the ring?
“Doing the movie, we’re coming into it in a completely [new] way, both trying to make the best movie and have the most fun and make the best movie we could. So there’s no real animosity there except the acting part.”
In Bigfoot, Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams star alongside Howard Hesseman (Head of the Class), Sherilyn Fenn (Twin Peaks), Andre Royo (The Wire) and shock-rocker Alice Cooper. src: TheDeadBolt.com
The best review so far is BLC's hometown paper the Oregonian.

SyFy's 'Bigfoot' pits Danny Bonaduce, Barry Williams against a forest monster

By Grant Butler, The Oregonian

SyFy network wraps up what they've been calling "the most-dangerous month on television" on Saturday with "Bigfoot," a low-budget original film that stars 1970s sitcom stars Danny Bonaduce and Barry Williams. Like most SyFy Saturday night movies, this one appears to have been shot on a budget of roughly $37, and features special effects that may have been created on a Commodore 64 computer. But no one watches a SyFy flick expecting great artistry. People want laughably bad acting and campy dialogue, and "Bigfoot" certainly delivers.
Bonaduce plays a radio DJ in Deadwood, S.D., who is organizing a 1980s rock festival (oddly headlined by Alice Cooper, and only attracting an audience of about 50 people). Williams plays a washed-up musician turned environmental activist who is concerned about the festival's effect on the environment. Before the former stars of "The Partridge Family" and "The Brady Bunch" can really square off, the festival is disrupted by Bigfoot, and mayhem begins.
There's lots of running around, people being stomped on, and plenty of geographic oddities (South Dakota, at least in the SyFy world, is located near the Pacific Northwest). It all culminates with a scene on top of Mount Rushmore that pays homage to but hardly rivals the finale of Alfred Hitchcock's "North By Northwest."
Included in the cast are Andre Royo (he went from "The Wire" to this?), Sherilyn Fenn (of "Twin Peaks" 20 years ago), and Howard Hesseman (from another '70s sitcom, "WKRP In Cincinnati"). It's directed by Bruce Davison, a one-time Oscar nominee who these days is playing judges on shows like "Drop Dead Diva."
Should you watch it? Heck, yes! It may not rise to the campy glories of "Jersey Shore Shark Attack" earlier this month, but it's got Williams and Bonaduce enough cheese to make nachos. Don't forget the tortilla chips! src: OregonLive.com

A brief glimpse of the Bigfoot from Squatch!

YNN (Your News Now) recently did a report on an indie Bigfoot film shot in Manor, Texas. manor is a stand-in for a fictional town called Quality, Oregon.

Lone Star Scene: Bigfoot hunting indie film sprouts in Manor

By: Victor Diaz
The fictional town of Quality, Oregon might look familiar to residents of Manor, where City Hall sets the scene for a contentious town meeting. The conflict between Bigfoot research experts and concerned citizens plays out in a key scene for "Squatch!" It's debut feature film from Austin-based Look Now Productions.
Manor is also the old home town of director Carlos Samudio. He plans to shoot about 75 percent of the film in Texas with the rest on location at Timothy Lake in Oregon.
Principal photography continues trough the summer as the local cast and crew give their take on a long running supernatural debate.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Weekend Bigfoot Hunter

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will star as a Weekend Bigfoot Hunter in upcoming movie The Monster Hunter's Survival Guide

The Monsters Hunter's Survival Guide is a live action adventure film based on the comic book miniseries by John Paul Russ that was published by Zenescope Entertainment. The film will be produced by Simon Kinberg through his Genre Films shingle. The movie is tentatively scheduled for a 2013 release.

The release date seems pretty impossible according to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnsons's schedule. Johnson is currently filming G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation, where he plays Roadblock. He’ll follow G.I. Joe 2 with the action thriller Snitch, where he stars opposite Susan Sarandon and Michael K. Williams. He’s also attached to play Goliath in a retelling of the David and Goliath story in Goliath, but that film is currently lacking a David. Johnson will next be seen in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which opens February 10th, 2012.

Based on the premise of the comic book, we would like them to take enough time to do this right. The comic book series has covered how to survive against all sorts of monsters. The first five issues have covered the undead, cryptids, giant monsters, unnatural beasts, and fantasy creatures. It's a good bet they will definitely include Bigfoot in the movie, as all the initial buzz has The Rock as a Bigfoot Hunter. The best description of the comic book is found at CS Moore studios where they are creating an action figure for the Monster Hunter:

Action figure design of Monster Hunter
“The Monster Hunter’s Survival Guide is the comprehensive guide every Monster Hunter must have! The guide covers the strengths and weakness of every known and unknown monster on earth or otherwise. Monster hunters will find it packed with tips on how to take down these creatures, or if they should steer clear of the beasts. Whether they are a weekend Bigfoot hunter or a hardcore Vampire slayer, this guide will help keep even a novice hunter alive.”

If the action figure design is any indication of what we are in for, it seems to be something sort of of a modern day Van Helsing.

Who Forted? Produces Bigfoot Documentary

This is a documentary 6 years in the making. Produced by Who Forted? Previously known as Ghost Hunters Incorporated.

Who Forted?, created in the fall of 2008, began as a weekly blog about the misadventures of a few jaded paranormal enthusiasts, and before long, it had morphed turned into an online destination for anyone with even a passing interest in all things weird.

The word "Forted' is a humorous reference to Charles Hoy Fort (August 6, 1874 – May 3, 1932). Fort was an American writer and researcher into anomalous phenomena. Today, the terms Fortean and Forteana are used to characterize various such phenomena.

Following the embedded video below is an excerpt from the Who Forted? post announcing the documentary.

Five years since a small portion of the footage appeared online, we’re more than excited to announce that the feature length documentary film, The Bigfoot Hunter: Still Searching, is nearing completion.

The film, shot in the summer of 2006 during two Sasquatch hunting expeditions in the rural hills of down-state New York, follows the often hilarious, sometimes nerve racking, and always fascinating search of two prominent Bigfoot hunters from the New England region.

Tim Holmes, ex-merchant marine and founder of the Southern Tier Bigfoot Watch, together with Becky Sawyer, a no-nonsense employee of Searching for Bigfoot Incorporated, take to the forests of the tri-state area in a search for the elusive monster, followed by the cameras of a group of young adventurers, many of whom are now the amateur journalists of Who Forted? Magazine.

During the expeditions, the evidence captured on film surprised not only the crew, but two seasoned Sasquatch investigators. Though the film undoubtedly focuses on the North American Man-Ape, the big hairy guy takes a back seat to the bigger personalities of Tim and Becky, who are obsessed with the search for Bigfoot, albeit in very different ways. It’s a film that begs the question, “what matters more, the journey or the destination?”

The Bigfoot Hunter: Still Searching, the first feature length documentary from the people behind Who Forted? Magazine, was directed by Greg Newkirk and is being produced by Toronto’s Fight or Flight Productions in association with Ghost Hunters, Incorporated.

What peaked our interest is the fact that they seem to be literally hunting for Bigfoot, with guns and bullets. The other point of interest is the addition of Becky Sawyer, a no-nonsense employee of Searching for Bigfoot Incorporated. Searching for Bigfoot, of course, belongs to Tom Biscardi. Tom Biscardi's involvement, no matter how remote does not bode well for any Bigfoot endeavor.

Biscardi is a considered a hoaxer. That's the worst kind of label you can put on a bigfoot researcher. Don't worry, we are not calling Biscardi a hoaxer, we can say with certitude that at the VERY LEAST he has been hoaxed more times than any other researcher, which says he doesn't do his homework.

Biscardi's Wikipedia page says as much. here is the first paragraph:

Tom Biscardi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Carmine Thomas Biscardi (born 1948) is a cryptozoology enthusiast, Las Vegas promoter, internet radio host, and film producer. He describes himself as the "Real Bigfoot Hunter". Biscardi has been centrally involved in several hoaxes regarding Bigfoot that have garnered widespread international media attention.

The Wikipedia page goes on to identify two hoaxes The Coast to Coast Am (Jul 1985) and The Georgian frozen Bigfoot hoax (Aug 2008).

Despite the guns and the proximity to Biscardi's name, we are looking forward to seeing this documentary. Especially since it seems to revolve around the philosophies of the two Bigfoot hunters.

Who Forted? is an excellent online zine with great writing and interesting articles. Their college-level humor is refreshing take on all things abnormal. We wish them luck on the distribution and selling of their documentary.

As you can see, we have a soft spot
and appreciation for Charles Fort.

Sasquatch Assault

As you have read on the previous post Top 51 Bigfoot Movies. You all know how I feel about stories turning Bigfoot into the monster-of-the-week. I don't care for that exploitation of Bigfoot among those who consider themselves scientific researchers.

However, in the hands of a slasher movie being true to its genre? I say go for it. Watch this preview and if you are a fan of classic slashers that made Jason, Michael and Freddy so popular than I think this may be in the same vein. The director is no Stanley Kubric (who is right?), but as you can see in the preview, the composition of the shots and the lighting of the scenes did not go without art or craft.
