Steven Streufert: A scholar of Bigfoot history, Steven Streufert runs Bigfoot Books, an all-purpose used and rare book shop located in the heart of Bigfoot Country, and specializing in Sasquatchiana, among many other interesting things.

Lyle Blackburn is a frequent contributor and cryptozoology advisor to Rue Morgue magazine, one of the leading horror media publications in print today. Lyle's Monstro Bizarro blog is featured on Rue Morgue's website and his "Monstro Bizarro Presents" news column appears monthly in the print magazine. He has also contributed to websites such as Cryptomundo.com, and has been a featured speaker at paranormal conferences and horror conventions around the country.

Growing up in Texas, Lyle has always been fascinated with legends, lore and sighting reports of real-life "monsters." He has studied the phenomenon in legend, fact and film, and is the author of The Beast of Boggy Creek: The True Story of the Fouke Monster.

Lyle is also the founder and frontman for the Texas-based rock band, Ghoultown. Since 1998, Ghoultown has released eight albums, toured extensively in both the U.S. and Europe, and has appeared on several horror movie soundtracks. Most recently, Lyle and his band collaborated with legendary television horror hostess, Elvira - Mistress of the Dark, to create her new theme song, which was also turned into an extended music video. The video was featured on Elvira's Movie Macabre television show, which is syndicated throughout the U.S. on local stations.

Tony Youn, M.D. is a board-certified plastic surgeon. Youn made his national TV debut on Dr. 90210 and has been a frequent guest on The Rachael Ray Show and The CBS Early Show. He has written articles for RADAR magazine, MSNBC.com and CBS News.com. Tony's blog is the most popular blog by a plastic surgeon in the country.

Rational thought and open discussion abounds at new Facebook Group

"This is a pro-Bigfoot group open to skepticism and critical thought, so long as it is not hateful or slanderous." --Steven Streufert

The next best thing to happen to Bigfoot Research. We predict the Coalition for Reason, Science and Sanity in Bigfoot (CFRSSBR)is going to be the best place to openly debate and share rational bigfoot discussions. We also predict it will grow like gangbusters. After being up for only a week it has gained over 100 members. Even better, the activity and participation has been enormous.

The biggest appeal to this facebook group is the tone set by Steven Streufert and Nadia Moore. Both Steven and Nadia have done a great job of establishing respectful debate and openness to skepticism and critical thought.

The description of the group by Steven Streufert is as follows:

This group is open to all, and seeks to promote the spirit of rational thinking and evidence-based reality orientation in a field gone mad with fantastical dreaming and grandiose presupposition. Add all of your "Squatching" friends to this group. This is a pro-Bigfoot group open to skepticism and critical thought, so long as it is not hateful or slanderous. Take a stand for the compatibility of Sasquatch and Reason.

The Most Refreshing Bigfoot Research

Why do we love the research by Robert Leiterman, Steven Streufert, Rowdy Kelly? because its thoroughly tangible, inclusive and open to review.

THOROUGHLY TANGIBLE
This is research you can almost touch and feel. All the different overlapping maps, photographs and illustrations make the data approachable from multiple angles. The physicality of the bluff creek area feels almost with in reach.

INCLUSIVE
Anybody who's been in the community knows most of the research is exclusive. Information is not easily shared between camps, and more often than not, ideas compete against each other instead of shaping each other. This usually results in a slow roll out of any conclusion (like the recent DNA stuff) or ideological mudslinging from differing camps.

On Streufert's blog, in additional to his teams own fieldwork, he includes others who have researched Bluff Creek in great detail MK Davis and Bill Munns weaving a pretty good tapestry of what we can know about bluff creek.

OPEN TO REVIEW
Another obstruction in Bigfoot research is the ownership issue. Some are possessive over their research, Streufert and the rest throw it all out there. They don't hold on to bits and pieces and tease it out. They share enough information so we can explore the data ourselves. The maps and illustrations are extremely detailed.

For you long-time fans it wouldn't surprise you Bigfoot Lunch Club would have such high praise for this new Bluff Creek research. Inclusiveness is in our editorial DNA.

Steven Streufert appeared on last sundays Finding Bigfoot Episode. He is the owner of Bigfoot Books and the editor of BIGFOOT'S bLOG. We are big fans of his blog and have huge respect for his "tell-it-like-it-is" style (see Bigfoot Wars Pt. II).

And, by the way, we have REDISCOVERED the PATTERSON-GIMLIN FILM SITE, or so it seems, and we have documented it. Yes, that means we have found the big trees and the stumps, and will almost certainly be able to re-trace the creature's track-way as in the film. That news is going to be coming out slowly here on this blog. I've also been posting on the MUNNS REPORT thread on the BIGFOOT FORUMS. It looks absolutely certain, to me anyway, that we have indeed found the site. So, stay tuned for yet more BLUFF CREEK FILM SITE PROJECT. (See under "Favorites" through this link.) Bigfoot Wars II: Beware of the Trolls

In our first Installation of Bigfoot Wars, we borrowed heavily from Steven Streufert's BIGFOOTS bLOG.

Steven Streufert and his sincere opinions are again a topic at The Journal, a Humboldt County Weekly. The article, titled Bigfoot and the Trolls highlights some of the back and forth between Streufert and a few members/moderators of the Bigfoot Forums. The troll reference is from a post on Streuferts Blog described in the blurb below.

On May 29 at 12:10 a.m. Streufert posted a cryptic warning on his blog and, as he always did, posted notice of it on the BFF: “When looking for Bigfoot, watch out for TROLLS.”

The article continues to allow the story unfold on its own and pauses in the excerpt below, telling much about Streufert.

“I haven’t had a sighting that I can prove,” he said. “But I think the anecdotal evidence is tremendous. I can point in all directions here to places where Bigfoot has been seen, right from this store [by others]. Including across the river right there” — he pointed through the store toward the open front door, beyond which lay the highway and the Trinity River — “and including behind these cabins out here. Last year, there was a sighting up on Friday Ridge Road, and by the forest lookout.”

With regularity, as if they’re just reporting yet another black bear crossing the road or raiding someone’s garden, people come into his store to tell him they or someone they know just saw Bigfoot.

“This store’s like Bigfoot bait,” Streufert, who’s 45, said. “And when I opened it in 2005, that’s what I was thinking: I could put Bigfoot in the name and have Bigfoot in the front window, and people would eventually start coming in here.”

Bigfoot books and memorabilia do flood the store. Even so, there are far more books on non-Bigfoot topics, from religion to romance. Streufert has a master’s in literature and a master’s in teaching writing, both from Humboldt State. He loves learning about everything, he said.
