Season Premiere Determines Which is the Better Habitat for Bigfoot: The American or Canadian Bush?

(Silver Spring, Md.) -The natural world is full of discoveries to be made and truths to be uncovered. However, there is one legendary animal mystery that sparks passion unlike any other: the existence of Bigfoot. Animal Planet’s intrepid FINDING BIGFOOT team travels to the corners of the globe in hopes to, once and for all, prove that the elusive bigfoot (aka sasquatch) is out there.

The new season of FINDING BIGFOOT premieres Sunday, January 3, from 9-11 PM (ET/PT), as Animal Planet’s curious crypto-zoological team sets foot in new locations with modern technologies to progress the search. And in the two-hour premiere, Bigfoot Field Research Organization (BFRO) president Matt Moneymaker, researchers James “Bobo” Fay and Cliff Barackman and field biologist Ranae Holland split up to determine the better sasquatch habitat: the American or Canadian wilderness. While the countries share a border, they boast different landscapes, so Cliff and Matt investigate the Canadian bush while Bobo and Ranae scour their home turf for evidence.

This season, the team investigates the following states:

· Maine, Sunday, January 10, at 10 PM: A cornucopia of bigfoot artifacts exists in the Pine Tree State, so the team takes its first trip to Maine and heads deep into the woods to learn more within this east-coast squatching haven.

· New Hampshire, Sunday, January 17, at 10 PM: In picturesque Mount Washington, concerned resort owners reach out to the team with a slew of reported sasquatch sightings gathered throughout many years.

· Georgia, Sunday, January 24, at 10 PM: Military bases are some of the country’s most protected and secluded areas. In a top-secret sasquatch investigation, the team goes into full stealth mode and utilize tips from military members to investigate forests just off base.

· Oregon, Sunday, January 31, at 10 PM: The team has been to Cliff’s home state before, but they never have explored beyond Cliff’s usual spots. The team takes a helicopter trip deep into the Oregon wilderness to one of the most remote locations in the show’s history. And, for the first time, the team employs drones with infrared cameras.

The Sasquatch Outpost has become more than a store with bigfoot mechandise, it has become a bgfoot museum, complete with a map for local Coloradians to pin their own bigfoot encounters. 

Two local TV news rporters decided to go "squatchin'" with Jim and Daphne Myers who co-own the store.

FOX21’s Abbie Burke and Ray Harless went out with the Myers in search of Bigfoot, but were unsuccessful.
However, just months before, Kevin Lynn said he had an encounter nearby.

Lynn and a friend went searching for Sasquatch in late July along the Colorado Trail in the Lost Creek Wilderness Area.

“It started to get dark and we decided we needed to find a flat place to set up camp and also get a fire going,” said Lynn.

“We did some calls and some tree knocks at night and after about 11 p.m. we kind of settled in and called it a night. Probably two or three in the morning we heard loud tree knocks and whooping or calling, from some sort of creature or more than one. We heard it from behind our tent as well as out in front of our tent. The only thing we figured is that they were calling between each other and they knew we were there. We actually got to the point where we couldn’t go back to sleep because it happened for several hours.”

No one has officially been able to prove Bigfoot’s existence, but those who believe say a mind can be changed in an instant.

“It only takes one sighting and you’re an instant believer,” said Daphne.

Plant City, Florida Bigfoot Caught on Video

"A video that purports to show a large, man- or ape-like creature in Alderman’s Ford park has been making the rounds on the Internet." -- Tampa Tribune

The video is 22 seconds long and is quite a distance from the subject. As usual it is small, blurry and hard to define. The Tampa Bay article claims the video is making the rounds on the internet, while, at the time of this blog post, the YouTube video has only racked up 300 views. The video titled, "Skunkape Sighting Plant City," was published on June 5th of 2015 and the Tampa Bay article was published on August 12th of 2015.

The video may get a boost after the published article, but the current low viewership may be due to the low quality of content of the video. Watch the video below and judge for yourself.



Despite the video being  "posted on a number of websites and Facebook pages that track sightings of bigfoot" as the bigfoot news article reports, two of the closest residence have not heard of the sighting. Read the excerpt below.

A spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Parks Department said she hadn’t heard of any reports of bigfoot in any county park.

Laurie Champion, a Pasco County resident who runs a website, www.pinellaspascoparanormal.com, that among other things tracks bigfoot sightings, said she hadn’t heard anything about the Plant City bigfoot.

Texas Local News: Photographer Snaps Picture of Bigfoot

"No, I've never seen one , never believed in one," -- Texas photographer, who wishes to remain anonymous, believes he has now had his first Bigfoot encounter.

In a report filed yesterday, October 21, 2012, KLTV reports of a Texas man who is convinced that he may have snapped a picture of Bigfoot after having rocks thrown at him. The investigation was done by Mike Hall of TexLA ,a Cryptozoological research team.

There have been reported sightings of bigfoot in remote East Texas locations, and even near Dallas, and a photographer says he has proof that bigfoot may be closer than we think. The Dallas area photographer, who remains anonymous , was never a bigfoot believer by his own admission.

"No, I've never seen one , never believed in one," he says.

But a huge stone thrown at him in the woods one camping trip, with no one else around, changed his mind.

"An object landed within ten feet of us that I know of no human being able to throw it that far. There was one about 10 foot tall. A family group drew in close, three of which got within 15 feet of me. It looked like something out of a Steven Spielberg movie, not human as I know it," he says.

He shot images in Shelby county of something moving in the woods. Outside of Dallas he shot images of something large and hairy watching from the trees. But light and shadow can play tricks. East Texas bigfoot researcher Mike Hall and his team from Texla crypto zoological research examined the images to see if they have merit.

"Some of the shots you can actually make out what looks like a pair of eyes. There is something there staring back at him taking video. There is something there, question is, what is it?," Hall says.

One shot looking very similar to the Roger Patterson bigfoot film of 1967. A crest or conical ridge on what appears to be the head.

"The cone looking head, in the still shot that's very compelling, something definitely moving across the brush just observing," says fellow researcher Larry Parks.

The photographer is keeping his identity anonymous but did say he would be releasing more video evidence in the future.

Bigfoot Sightings Common In Ohio

CAMBRIDGE, Oho - A group of researchers claim that Bigfoot is real, and say there are have been sightings of the creature in Ohio.

Curiosity surrounding the Bigfoot phenomenon has persisted for centuries, 10TV’s Ashleigh Barry reported.

There have been reported encounters to footprints to possible DNA.

There is now even a cable television show dedicated to communicating and finding the creature.

Bigfoot believers, like Doug Waller, say that the evidence speaks for itself.  He recently took part in a hunt for Bigfoot, near Salt Lake State Park in Guernsey County.

“These things don’t really want to be discovered,” Waller said.  “They lived here before the park was built.  This is their home.”

While some would argue that the large creatures only prowl the terrain in the Pacific Northwest, Waller said that Bigfoot has been sighted on dozens of occasions in Ohio.

Gayle Veselenak is convinced that there is a Bigfoot out there and that it is capable of communicating.

“We’ll wait and listen and sometimes you’ll get a response back,” Veselenak said.

She and her son, Matt, used a bat to communicate with the creature.

“There’s something that has to be in here for everybody to hear these noises and have all these people say that they’ve seen him or heard him,” Matt Veselenak said.  “There’s got to be something in these woods.”

Scientists have said that eyewitnesses have only presented circumstantial evidence over the years that make it impossible to confirm whether there really is a Bigfoot out there.

Some swear that an audio recording known as the “Ohio Howl” presents evidence that Bigfoot is real.  A barking dog is heard in the recording and then a siren-like moan is audible, Barry reported.

The recording that was made in Columbiana County, Ohio, was the first documented recording of what is believed to be coming from a large, male Sasquatch.

Residents said that the howls can be heard late at night, echoing off hills on both sides of the Ohio River.

“We’ve heard vocalizations come back at us,” Gayle Veselenak said.  “It’s very eerie because you’re out in the woods in the middle of the night.  The only light you have is your flashlight – that’s the only thing you can see – everything else is completely dark so you don’t know what direction anything is going to happen in.”

Perhaps the most well-known documented video of Bigfoot is the Patterson-Gimlin footage that was shot in 1967, Barry reported.

Peter Byrne, a veteran Bigfoot tracker disagrees with the notion that the video is a hoax.

“We think that footage is real,” Byrne said.  “We really think so.”

Byrne, an Ireland native, is renowned for his abilities to raise millions of dollars in the name of Bigfoot research.  He recently made a guest appearance in Cambridge for a Bigfoot conference that attracted nearly 600 believers.

Byrne said that having hundreds of attendees is proof that skepticism is diminishing.  He is hopeful that one day concrete evidence proves his theory is true.

“Science demands a body on the table,” Byrne said.  “Science demands physical remains on the table, so what we hope for is to find a body of one that has died from natural causes and there's that possibility and then it's all over.  We know that they are there -- or were there -- so that's what I hope for in the future before I move on.”

Scientists and Bigfoot trackers will continue searching for answers, Barry reported.

“A lot of famous big footers have died and still have not had sightings,” Waller said.

“They’re there,” Gayle Veselenak said.

The most recent reported Bigfoot sighting was reported in April in Mount Orab, Ohio, where someone spotted the creature near railroad tracks.

In the last 12 months In Ohio, there have been dozens of Bigfoot sightings and footprints found, Barry reported.

Dr. Eugenie Scott Debunks Bigfoot and Wildmen

This is our third post regarding Bigfoot skeptics. Previously we had a post about Brian Dunning, who although skeptical, is quite sympathetic towards us Bigfooters, and we also had a post on Benjamin Radford's top ten reasons Bigfoot is Bogus.

It's important to us at Bigfoot Lunch Club to air all voices regarding Bigfoot, even if we disagree with them. We love intelligent Bigfoot skeptics, we really do. The really smart ones showcase what we, as Bigfooters, have to overcome. If they are really good, they do half of our work for us by defining challenges we may have overlooked. The good ones are worth listening to; enter Dr. Eugenie Scott.

Dr. Eugenie Scott is a physical anthropologist who defends the teaching of evolution in public schools through the National Center of Science Education (NCSF). The NCSF's mission is described in more detail below:

We educate the press and public about the scientific, educational, and legal aspects of the creation and evolution controversy, and supply needed information and advice to defend good science education at local, state, and national levels.

Dr. Scott is also President of the Bay Area Skeptics. Founded in 1982, the Bay Area Skeptics encourages critical thinking and accuracy in the media and in our schools. They encourage rational thought and critical thinking through the use of scientific methods. They are particularly interested in such topics as claims of the paranormal, pseudoscience, and untested or poorly tested medical and psychotherapeutic practices.

In the video below Dr. Eugenie Scott represents the Bay Area Skeptics. She quickly identifies two camps of Bigfooters. In the first camp, as she describes them, are the paranormal, mystical Bigfooters that believe Bigfoot can shape shift, she quickly marginalizes them and says that is an argument for theologists. In the second camp are, as she defines them, cryptozoologist. She is critical of their lack of scientific process and ability to test their explanations. On this point we agree, we wish there was better evidence to test our explanations, its not for lack of trying. Dr. Scott does say Scientist like Dr. Jeff Meldrum are heading in the right direction.
